Madelyn lost her hair but not her smile!

Please support my beautiful niece Madelyn Grace Switalski and her parents Lisa and Mike. Madelyn was a month shy of turning 2 years old when she was diagnosed with a childhood cancer called Neuroblastoma, stage 4. Madelyn is a beautiful, bright, amazingly smart little girl, who Mommy and Daddy call their little genius. She is full of energy always giggly and playful. Her smile will melt your heart along with her big beautiful blue eyes and cute little blonde curls. We love her sassy independent personality and how strong willed she is. She loves music and dancing, she will dance with the Ellen show and Sesame Street. Anytime she hears music she starts to boogie. Some of her favorites are Peppa Pig, Elmo, and Minnie Mouse, oh and she loves shoes! Madelyn has always been an upbeat energetic little girl who has been healthy until recently.

It all started with Madelyn having a fever and complaining of belly pain. Her parents would not give up on finding why the fevers wouldn’t stop. After going to the emergency room and several visits to the doctor, with countless tests her doctors reached out to a team of doctors at The University of Chicago Hospital. Madelyn was then admitted to Edwards Hospital for more tests, where they found a tumor in her belly and a mass behind her left lung. She was then transferred to Comers Children Hospital at UC. She had a biopsy of the tumor that confirmed it is a childhood cancer called Neuroblastoma, stage 4 and it's also in her bone marrow.

Mommy and Daddy are absolutely brokenhearted, and devastated, along with family and friends. She is going to go through extensive treatment that will require long hospital stays, as well as at home care. For that reason her Mommy has had to take an unpaid leave of absence from work, and her dad will miss a lot of work to be by Madelyn’s side. Her immune system will be depleted, so she will need to be watched closely to keep her healthy so she can stay on schedule with her treatment plan.

Most people probably can’t even imagine what Madelyn and her parents are going through, but everyone can relate to a financial problems. Madelyn's treatment plan will be at the minimum 18 months. It looks will include all of the following: surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and (2) stem cell transplants. Today’s rising costs of healthcare, co-pays, deductibles, out-of-network costs, expenses not covered by insurance, and travel costs, gas money, as well as money for food, Madelyn’s parents are going to need financial help to support them through this long road ahead. Any medical services associated with the treatment of cancer is costly, and its most often coupled with a decrease or loss of income for the parents of their cancer stricken child.

I am asking if you can please help Sweet little Madelyn and her parents, Lisa and Mike to get through this storm. They are in need of financial support if you can please find it in your heart to help. Any amount that you can donate will be greatly appreciated. We can all choose to intentionally be a blessing to a family who is going to need all the love and support they can get during this difficult time. Madelyn is a fighter and with God alongside her, as well as the love and support from her family, and friends we know she will get through this and be healed.

Anything will be an absolute blessing. Thank you all.
