Transitioning Single Parent

Hello there!
My name is Kristi. I am a transgender MtF in the earlier stages of the transition process. I am also a single parent to my adorable and loving son Tristan. I have full custody of him – his biological mom is not in the picture. This has made the experience slightly more complicated, but luckily he is a very open-minded child and is supportive of me even if he doesn't 100% understand everything. (Do any of us?)

Sadly, when I came out about my transition at my long-term job as a General Manager of a restaurant, my staff and the company was supportive – but my franchise owner was not. He made up a thinly veiled excuse to fire me within just a few days of coming out to him, even tho he claimed to be okay with it. I had been managing this store for three and a half years and had never had much of a problem before then. Because of the way he did it, I didn't even get a severance package or anything to tide me over while I searched for a new job.

Not only did this put me in a position of scrambling to provide for my child and pay my mortage and bills somehow while looking for a new job, I was also doing this while in the earliest stages of my transition. We all know how nerve-wracking it can be applying for interviews – now imagine trying to do that when you're also far enough along in transition it's noticeable, but not extremely so. And then to add onto that trying to figure out ahead of time if the employer you're looking into is transgender friendly or if it will just be a repeat of what happened before. It's a very stressful process made worse by all sorts of complicating factors.

Now, I have managed to find a new job. At least for now, and from what I've seen they seem very LGBT+ friendly. But it doesn't pay as much as I need to care for my child, survive, and progress in my transition. I have to see a therapist and a doctor, not to mention pay for meds. And as you can imagine, there is some catching up to do for the months I was jobless. I am currently applying for a part-time job to help me out in catching up, but anything that I can get to help out until then is really appreciated.

After I am able to get my living situation taken care of I will be using any extra funding I recieve to help cover my transition.
The things I wish to get done in order is:
- Laser hair removal-
- Facial Feminization Surgery-
- breast augmentation ( most likely)-
      and lastly
- Sexual reassignment surgery-

I am also a digital artist – this has been able to help me bring in some extra funds, but not a lot as it's a hard world to compete in when it comes to online art sales. Not to mention, it's rather difficult to work on and finish art in a timely manner with a full time job and a child, meaning this doesn't bring in a steady or reliable income.
