Ming’s Surgery

UPDATE (8) 5/9/2016: Ming went to the vet today and had his drainage tube removed. He is walking around tenderly as he is still sore all over. But he seems to be much happier without that uncomfortable piece of plastic. He will return next Monday to have his stitches evaluated and possibly removed.
TOTAL SPENT ON SURGERY FOR MING: $1,045.04
I did not account for all the extra bandages and pee pads I had to buy; along with a $150 ramp to manage the stairs. This total is strictly for the overall surgery, follow ups, and the emergency overnight care.

UPDATE (7) 5/7/2016: Ming had a vet appt. this morning and he is doing much, much better. For the first time since this entire ordeal, he can truly rest more comfortably. It really is great seeing him walk around. He is really a trooper! He will go back on Monday and they will remove his drainage tube. His stitches will stay for another week or so.

UPDATE (6) 5/5/2016: After a scary restless night, it's finally time for some rest. From here we will closely monitor everything Ming does. He is quite sore and exhausted from everything.

UPDATE (5) 5/5/2016: We picked up Ming from the 24/hr center and he was seeming more like himself. More like 'Ming.' We are heading out to a follow up appointment with his normal vet to see where we stand. Updates to follow.

UPDATE (4) 5/5/2016: Last night Ming was having some breathing issues and extreme pain. We took him to the 24/hr Vet at 9pm, they watcbed him and re applied his bandage, and we by 2AM decided to leave him overnight for proper monitoring. We will pick him up this morning, and call his normal vet since they are open at 8AM.
We aren't out of the woods yet. Please donate.
UPDATE (3) 5/4/2016: Ming is now home and heavily sedated. Now begins the recovery process. Starting with rest.

UPDATE (2) 5/4/2016: We just got the call that we can pick up Ming at 5:30pm tonight! They only said 'Everything went well, and he is waking up.' I can't wait to bring him home! Now starts the long recovery process. Updates will follow.
UPDATE (1) 5/4/2016: We met with the vet and left Ming in their care around 8:30AM today. They informed we will not have an update until later in the afternoon/evening; depending on all the variables. We eagerly wait to hear from them. Updates will follow.

Meet The Dynasty of Ming!
aka: Ming, Mingy-moo, Mingy…
As many of you know, we rescued our little gentleman Hairless Chinese Crested when he was 1.5years. Today, he is a super spry and active senior and a huge part of the family. Ming’s loving and independent spirit has stolen the hearts of everyone he has met ever since!
Over the years Ming has developed fatty tumors all over his body. They have been tested and examined several times in the past and have all been considered benign. However, it wasn’t until recently that one in particular has quickly grown to be larger than a softball and feels just as hard as one. The mass is quickly starting to hinder his moving ability making walking difficult and it has started to change his stance and posture, he can no longer lie down comfortably without some support.
The vet is extremely concerned for him and has highly recommended that we bring him in for surgery ASAP. She has scheduled to remove at least part of this large, fatty tumor on Wednesday May 4, 2016 early in the morning. However, there are a lot of ‘unknowns’ at this point. She may not be able to remove as much as she wants and there is a very real possibility he may face complications on recovery.
He will have a surgical drainage tube after the initial surgery and a longer period of convalescence may be required depending on the circumstances. All the unknown factors have us all in a worried and stressed fit.
Due to the complicated nature of this surgery and possible extensive recovery process we are reaching out for helping hands!
Any donation helps and is greatly appreciated- Please, PLEASE help us help Ming!
