Let's get Minerva a stick!

Donation protected

Hello!

Eight years ago, my girlfriend Minerva suffered a skiing accident. Since then, she has undergone seven operations to fix the damage done to her knee. The nerve and tissue damage is so severe that there's nothing else that can be done. Now, she has Chronic Neuropathic Pain, and walks with a stick to stop her falling when her knee buckles, which it does regularly.

When Minerva found out that her pain was going to be there for the rest of her life, her family bought her a beautiful walking stick. Everyone that knows her, knows this stick was a part of her - a part of her identity.

On July 8th 2016 she had her walking stick stolen from her in a nightclub in London.

The CCTV confirms the theft, and the police are still looking into it but there's not much hope of getting it back.

Minerva would never ask for help, but I'm reaching out to mine and Minerva's friends, family and community to raise money to buy her a replacement stick that's perhaps not quite as beautiful, but that's is designed as a supportive stick for people with disabilities and not as a fashion accesory. They're too expensive for either of us to afford on our own, so we need your help.

We're hoping to raise up to £300 for the walking stick, but we also want to take the opportunity to raise as much money as we can to donate any excess to the British Pain Society, an organisation chosen by Minerva, to raise awareness of Chronic Pain and to contribute to camaigning efforts to have it recognised properly.

Thanks so much for reading, and please give whatever you can.

Love, Sarah and Minerva.
