Miner Lake Store fire

Donation protected
On Wednesday morning at 2:37, the historic Miner Lake Store burned to the ground. The young family living in the residential portion of the building lost their home.

They had been remodeling the historic building in the Miner Lake region of Allegan township in Allegan County, Michigan.

The building had been built in the early 1900's by William Milheim and served as a post office, country store and train depot.

It was a favorite gathering place of people from the community. Nearly every resident remembers walking or biking to the store. Local children would spend their pennies on 'penny candy' sold by the Milheims and later by Wm and Alice Brown, who purchased the store in 1946.

Store owners typically lived in the back of the store, which served as a residence.

With this fire, the community has lost a landmark and a young family lost their entire home and all their belongings.

One of the trademarks of the Miner Lake community is its generosity.  Will you join us in helping to provide essentials for this family in their need.

Thank you.
