The Millers Road to Recovery

Donation protected
In December 2018, our father Terrell Miller, was rushed to the emergency room with severe head pain and inability to speak coherently. After multiple test we learned he had a ruptured brain aneurysm. He immediately had to undergo several extensive surgeries and remain in the Emory ICU for 28 days- missing one of his daughters' birthdays, Christmas, and New Year's. Thankfully with the help of his wife and family, the neuro team at Emory, and the power of prayer- he graciously pulled through. However, the aneurysm caused lasting damage including: personality changes and behavior, decreased muscle function, and the short-term memory span of only 4 minutes.

During time of his aneurysm our mom, Callie Miller, lost her job and if it hadn’t been for the support of her close family and friends, we would have lost everything. She worked tirelessly to find a new job, while fulfilling the medical care needs of her husband and trying her best maintain the structure of her children’s home life. After months of elevated stress, she found a job and took the first steps to climb out of the hole our family had fallen into.

Until tragedy struck again on Thursday May 16th, 2019. We received a call from Piedmont Henry Hospital incorrectly informing us that our mother had been in a car accident. With our dad's injury he is unable to drive, so after scrambling to find transportation to the hospital, we learned that it had not been a car crash at all.

She was found unresponsive and without a pulse in her car at a local gas station on her way home from work. After several minutes of CPR, they were able to resuscitate her. Once at the hospital it was determined she had had a massive heart attack and went at least 15 minutes without oxygen, causing severe heart and possible brain damage.  She immediately underwent emergency heart surgery and has since been placed on life support and is in a medically-induced coma. We are praying that her organs stabilize so that doctors will be able smoothly taper her off the anesthetic as soon as possible. Unfortunately, we will not know the full extent of the damage until she becomes conscious again. Since our mothers' heart attack, our father has been readmitted due to seizures that his doctors now believe will be a compounding lifelong complication of his recent health issues.

Together our parents have four children, Cameron;19, Autumn; 16, Tristan; 14, and Christian; 10. They have always provided for us so, as their children, we are doing our best to take care of them and each other. If you cannot offer a monetary donation, your advice and prayers are also so greatly appreciated.
