Mikey Neidigk is a wonderful 3 year old boy that just didn't feel well.  After several trips to the doctor he was diagnosed with leukemia at the beginning of November.  Mikey's mom passed away not long after his birth but thankfully his Dad Nathan found love again and was recently married to a wonderful woman named Cameron.  However, the family is facing 3.5 years of chemotherapy treatment with the associated medical bills.  The family thanks you for your thoughts, prayers, and generosity during this tough time.  Any funds collected above the actual medical expenses will be donated to the Children's Cancer Fund of New Mexico and the Ronald McDonald House.

Hello all! Today we received the best news possible. Mikey’s Leukemia counts were undetectable from his last bone marrow draw. The medical term is MRD (minimum residual disease) negative. Tentatively speaking he’s kicked cancer’s butt!!!
The CAR-T cells he got last month have been targeting the B cells in his body both good and bad. Mikey had a B cell type of leukemia.
He’s going to have a few more bone marrow draws over the next year to make sure that he’s still MRD negative. Each successive time that he is...He’s more and more in he clear.
We’re treating today as a HUGE WIN, and very much an answer to thousands of prayers.
Thanks to everyone who has been rooting for Mikey, and I’ll keep you updated with how his successive bone marrow draws go.

Mikey received his CAR-T cells today at Colorado Children’s Hospital. It was a quick simple infusion. This process is still a big deal even at CCHS as Mikey is only the 6th or 7th kiddo that they’ve treated this way. CAR-T is very expensive and a lot of insurance companies haven’t added the therapy to their approved standards of care. We’re thankful our insurance does cover this process. We’re going to have to stay within an hour of the hospital for at least the next 6 weeks, but will remain outpatient and should be able to live a mostly “normal” life. We can go for walks, go to the park, shopping etc. We do have to monitor Mikey’s temperature for fever. He’ll be quickly admitted to the hospital if he has one.
CAR-T cells delivered!
Mikey...Our super hero!

Tomorrow 8/27 is the big day! Mikey will get his CAR-T cells at Colorado Children’s Hospital. We’ve been in Denver for the last 2 weeks getting ready for this. Mikey had an “easy” week of chemo to lower his immune system counts so that his body wouldn’t try to fight off the new genetically modified cells. The infusion should take about 5 minutes. Cameron’s Birthday is also tomorrow, and she told Mikey that the best present that she’ll get is the chance to save her boys life!
