On Wednesday, February 8, 2017, life for Mike, Chassity, and their children changed forever.  A fire in their home claimed the lives of 3 year old Blayden and 4 month old Tally.  Chassity and Brighten (their middle child) are currently in ICU at Shands hospital in Gainesville, FL and will hopefully be transferred to the country's best burn unit in Cincinnati, OH soon.

Pretty much everything they own was lost in the fire - their home, clothes, furniture, etc.  They will need to completely start over.  In addition to this, there are medical expenses for all five of them and funeral expenses for Blayden and Tally.  And this is why I have set up this fund for them.  I researched funeral costs and based the amount needed off that, though this is a low-end number and would possibly not cover medical expenses or other necessities.

Please pray for this young family and if you are at all able to give toward their emergency fund, please do so as soon as possible.  They will need money immediately for travel expenses (to be with Chassity & Brighten) and basic necessities.  In the near future, they will need money for medical and funeral expenses as well.  I am sure they will appreciate whatever help you can offer.

Thank you!

This will be my final update on this page & I will be shutting it down soon. Chassity & Brighton are both doing well and all three of them are in Boston together. Now that Chassity is better, she & Mike have decided they would like to have more control over the donations. To make this easier, I have stopped donations to this page so that they can set up their own GoFundMe page and direct the donations where they feel they are needed most. All donations that have been given to this page (aside from GoFundMe fees) have been distributed to the family. Mike's sister has set up a Facebook page for updates named "Prayers for Brighton" if you would like to keep updated on the family. Please continue to pray for them and for all that still lies ahead of them. God bless!

I wanted to give you an update on Chassity and Brighton. Chassity woke up on February 23rd and immediately asked for Mike. The doctors did not extubate her and she has a tracheotomy instead. She is now breathing on her own and doing well. She was flown to Boston yesterday so the three of them are back together again. Her room at the Shriner's hospital is near Brighton's room.

Brighton is doing well overall. There is some concern that he may have developed chicken pox & labs have been sent to verify. It's obviously not the best timing for this, but the good news is that if it turns out to be chicken pox, they have found it in the beginning stages and the doctors are sure that with prompt treatment, it's not anything this little soldier can't handle.

Please continue to pray for this family as they continue to heal, not only physically, but emotionally as well. As the physical wounds begin to heal, I'm sure the reality of the tragedy will begin to hit them even more. Please pray for them to be surrounded by love and support and to feel God's comforting arms around them.

Please pray for Chassity today whenever the Lord brings her to your mind. Please pray that she will have healed enough so that her breathing tube can be removed & she can be brought out of sedation, which will enable her to make her own decisions about her medical care. With that said, please also pray for her as she learns about the deaths of Blayden & Tallie, as well as Brighton's condition when she is brought out of sedation. As a mother, I can only imagine how hard that is going to be for her. She's going to need a lot of prayers to get her through that!

The service for Blayden and Tallie on Saturday was beautiful and it is obvious these sweet babies were well loved by many, as are their parents and their brother! <3 As the preacher stated during the service, these sweet babies are in a much better place than we are now...they are in the arms of Jesus! And for everyone who knows Jesus as their Lord & Savior, they WILL see these babies again in Heaven! :)

Baby Brighton has been back on and off his blood pressure meds for the past 24 hours. He has an infection in his skin, but his antibiotics are working to fight it off. He has no fever & is stable. His doctor ordered his ventilator to be set a notch lower, which means his body is doing most of the work on its own. He isn't taking breaths on his own yet, but that isn't because he can't. Brighton is on a specific medicine that keeps him from doing so for safety purposes until they are ready for him to do so. His daddy has been by his side this whole time and I am sure will not be leaving Boston without him!

Chassity is currently lightly sedated in the hopes of being extubated (take the breathing tube out) on Monday. If by chance she isn't ready to be extubated on Monday, she will have a tracheotomy instead. Chassity has been approved by her doctors to be flown to Boston so that she can be where Mike & Brighton are and they can be together as a family again. Unfortunately, Chassity's mother refuses to sign consent for that to happen, so the only way that can take place is if Chassity is able to be extubated on Monday and can make that decision for herself. Please pray that will happen.

For those of you who may be wondering, I gave the funeral director a check for the funeral expenses on Saturday, which can be confirmed by her (Patty) if necessary. Any additional funds that are donated will be going toward medical expenses related to this tragedy. At this point, I am not sure what those expenses will be, but can assure you that the ONLY place these funds will go is to help Mike & Chassity with the expenses they have/will incur as a result of this tragic event. They will not go to me or to anyone else. THAT is what this fund is for, and that alone!

Please keep this family in your prayers...not only Mike, Chassity, and Brighton, but also the extended family as well. Pray that Chassity will be ready to be extubated on Monday so that she can make her wishes known about flying to Boston. Continue to pray for both her and Brighton's healing. Pray that the extended family will be able to come together and do what is truly best to support them in this time. In situations like this, emotions run high and sometimes the real focus gets lost. Pray that the pastor's words from the funeral have a lasting impression on their hearts and minds.
