MiIlion Women March

Hello everyone, my name is Aisat Oladokun. I am a senior in high school on the Southside of Chicago. I am a extremely involved in my community and care deeply about world issues. I am a feminist, public speaker, athlete, and I have a love of math and science.
On behalf of my mom (Barbara Henderson), sister (Shaquana Henderson), and my friends- Shekinah Steen and April Ross, and myself. I want to share why we want to attend the Million Women March in Washington D.C on January 21, 2017.
The Million Women March was first organized  Oct. 25, 1997 by Phile Chionesu. The march was intended to bring social, political, economic development and power throughout the black communities across the United States. As well, to bring empowerment, hope, unity and sisterhood to ALL women, men and children of America no matter what race, income status, or religion.
We as African American Women want to have a voice! The Million Women March on Washington of 2017 focuses on our rights, safety, health, religion, nationality, sexual orientation, and the differently-abled. In attending this march, we will speak for all. We will join the march with a diverse group of people to  show that standing together in HUGE numbers will show will can and will not be ignored. This March will be a STRONG message to the new administration to show women’s rights and human rights are not to be taken lightly. Those that are marginalized will speak and demand to be heard! We see value in attending this march as it is imperative to our future. We do not know where the new President-Elect will take us and for that we are in fear. We want to get involved and the best way to do that is by going to the source directly.
We want to raise money to pay for our Flights to Washington, D.C (~$2000), Housing,(~$1000), Transportation to and from the March and airport. Including meals $10-15 for five people (~$1000). We are looking to have this done by Mid- December, but the sooner the better. As the Hotels and flights are being filled and increasing due to the Inauguration.
We all would be so grateful if this trip was possible. We are also all doing small fundraisers to do everything possible in order to raise money. Thank You for reading and Please share with your friends and family.
