The Midwest BBQ for the Brave began as a backyard BBQ in 2012. We flipped burgers on the grill and everyone brought a dish to share. Our neighbors, friends and co-workers donated $20 each in order to make a large donation to the 'Building for America's Bravest' Program. The program, created by the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation, builds custom, adaptive Smart Homes for our most catastrophically injured veterans. We donated $2000 that first year.
Our 6th Annual Midwest BBQ for the Brave will be held on Friday, September 8, 2017 at CD & ME in Frankfort, IL. We continue to raise money to help build wheelchair accessible homes for our multi-amputee service members. We also make a donation to the Disabled Patriot Fund and budget a small amount of funds for special requests for Veterans with housing needs.
We expect to feed about 1200 people at our September 2017 BBQ benefit. YES! It has grown THAT much!
