Aaliyah Irene 1 lb Micro Preemie

Aaliyah Irene is a Micro Preemie baby who entered this world at 22 weeks and 6 days; 18 weeks early! Her birth weight was 1 lb. and 1/2 oz. Yes that is 17 ounces!!!! She was 10 ½ “long… Fighting for her tiny life from moment she entered this world. Only 10% of babies survive who were born at 22 weeks! Little Aaliyah is a strong willed tiny fighter.

Aaliyah has a long road ahead of her born May 7th 2017.
Aaliyah will be at the NICU until at least her due date of September 4th 2017. 

The Doctors say once home she and her mommy will need to be in isolation for up to two years! The risk is very real with Immune system problems. An underdeveloped immune system, common in premature babies, can lead to infection. Infection in a premature baby can quickly spread to the bloodstream causing sepsis, a life-threatening complication. Mom and Aaliyah will be isolated at home not allowed visitors or go to family functions. No day care as the risk of infection is just too high! Mom won’t be able to work outside the home at her regular career job. This will cut the family’s income by 2/3rds!

The need is a home for Aaliyah to come home to. There is a very real possibility of losing tiny Aaliyah’s home! Aaliyah’s family needs financial support to make sure house payments are met and tiny Aaliyah’s nursery is ready!
