On January 21st doctors discovered a large tumor covering about half of Drew's abdomen. He was diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma at just 20 months old. There is a long road of recovery ahead including a 6 week cycle of chemotherapy, a bone marrow transplant, surgery and, most likely, radiation. The Becker family is staying positive and they are ready to fight! Drew is surrounded by love and prayer and the family is so thankful for all of the support they are receiving.

The healing process will be long and there are already some financial needs the family is encountering. The hospital Drew is at is about 45 minutes from their home so gas and food money is one of the most immediate needs. Obviously there will also be mounting medical bills and there are various supplies needed for their stay at the hospital and their transition back home.

Local support for this family has been amazing, this page gives those of us farther away a way to support them and ease some of their burdens at this time.

Psalms 18:6 In my distress I called upon the Lord; to my God I cried for help. From his temple he heard my voice, and my cry to him reached his ears.

Here is Heidi's Caring Bridge post from 1.19.17:

Journal entry by Heidi Becker

This afternoon at 2:15, Drew entered into Paradise. Thank you to all of you who have seen us through this journey with Drew, and will be with us as we start the next. More details to follow, and I'm sure more words. But for now there's nothing else to say, but that Drew is done. He is finished. And he is free. Praise God.

God is calling Drew home. The Beckers had an amazing week at Disney World thanks to Make A Wish and almost as soon as they got home Drew was admitted to the hospital. Heidi's Caring Bridge and Facebook updates are full of faith and love. She is not wavering on her steadfast belief in God's plan - even if it means sending her sweet boy to Heaven much sooner than she would have anticipated. We are still praying boldly for a miracle this side of Heaven, but we also trust in God's plan for Drew's life and we welcome His loving embrace. The Beckers can feel God's love and your prayers are continuing to lift them up into God's loving arms. Despite heartbreak and the ultimate depth of sadness, Heidi has shown us unwavering faith in a mighty God. She has been called to share His love through this story and now it is up to us to carry them through these very trying days. Pray boldly. Embrace them. And as the days and weeks and months and years go by, let us not forget this family. Let us continue to shower them with prayer and love...the love they have taught us about through the most trying and difficult season of their life. Heidi, Josh, Molly & Drew, we surround you in prayer and we thank you for being examples of God's unfailing love for us. You are lifted up and covered in prayer - for healing, for peace, for rest, for comfort. ❤

Heidi and Josh have kept Drew's Caring Bridge page updated so I will post that link below. On his scan last week they found a mass that has doubled in size since his previous scan. This means the cancer is progressive and they will be starting a new treatment at Mayo on Monday. The treatment goes in 3 week cycles so there will be lots of back and forths from Austin to Rochester. Your donations will help offset all of the additional expenses they will incur during this next phase. Thank you!
