What Our Film Is About
Mental Illness effects everyone in some aspect. Whether they know someone who suffers from it or personally do, it is an issue that effects us all. With this film we want to bring into the spotlight what those who suffer from mental illness go through on a daily basis, we also want to take a probing and uncomfortable look into all aspects of the mental healthcare system. Our main goal with this to create change in the current healthcare system, eliminate some of the stigma of mental illness and finally make the topic of mental health no longer taboo.

Background On Myself
My name is Wes Beiko, I am a 19 year old two time Int'l award winning filmmaker.  I am also the owner of Okotoks based media production company 528 Evenings Media . My main goal in life has always been to help people. Over the past two years I have finally had the means to be able to begin helping people. This started with just doing acts of kindness in my everyday life and soon spread to making a 4 award winning documentary for "The Owen Hart Foundation ". In turn this brought about more awareness to the foundation helping hundreds of people in need. During and shortly before the Nepal 2015 earthquake I worked closely with the "For the Love of Children Society of Alberta " producing and editing videos for them. This in turn helped raise money for the thousands of children and their families worldwide under their care. Now I have my sights set on the mental health system. I personally have and still do deal with mental illness in my everyday life and know how debilitating it can be. I feel with my ability to tell a story, first hand experience with mental illness and proven experience with making award winning films, I can bring the issue of mental illness into the spotlight and bring about change for those who so desperately need it.

What Will The Donations Go Towards?
All donations will be going towards covering the cost of production and distribution. This will include things such as travel expenses, legal costs, website hosting, storage and backup, video distribution and hosting services, editing and filming costs, shipping costs and finally the cost of producing Blu Rays and DVDs. We are also planning to purchase another high quality microphone for when we start filming.

UPDATE #6. Project Update and Future.

Hey everyone, hope you had a great Easter. I have some great news. I am picking up production again this summer and will plan to have the final release sometime later this year at a date TBD. Over the past few months I have been putting in many hours of research on various new areas I want to go into with this documentary and reaching out to various people/organizations. One area that is very interesting is Cryotherapy.

What Is Cryotherapy? First off Cryo has been shown to help patients who have been suffering from depression. Cryo essentially is a therapeutic practice where a patient walks into a chamber that is cooled with liquid nitrogen vapour to -100 °C and the patient stays there for 2-3 minutes. This over time has shown not just improvements to physical ailments but also mental ones. This is just one of the many new areas that have come to light over recent months for myself to delve into with this documentary.

To complete the production of this documentary I need more funding. I am still seeking out alternate funding sources but if you can please share my campaign in hopes of more people donating to this project. Finally I will be releasing promo videos and securing our official website for this in the coming months preceding summer 2016. Look out for that.

Again thank you so much to everyone who has helped via donating thus far, although this has hit some unexpected delays I still plan on making this a reality. Huge thanks to my films main and only sponsor "Welcome Holmes LTD" you can visit them at the website as follows: http://www.welcomehomesltd.com/.

Update #5: Project Update.

For the past few months our team has been hard at work on this documentary including the establishment of our remote team headed by Joseph Phoenix Patterson in South Carolina to cover a portion of US based interviews.

We have come to the decision as a team to suspend the production of our documentary for the time being as we seek out alternate funding sources. As we still require roughly 50% of our funding we don't want to be in a situation where we finish production on our film and have to sit on hours of footage for months while trying to raise money to cover post production/distribution costs. My biggest concern is if we had to wait longer after finishing the production of this film the content itself may become a bit antiquated. For this to have the most impact on the current mental health system and view of mental illness we feel it is of the utmost importance to have the content be current.

Finally our whole team (myself included) is not personally receiving any money from this. All our team members have so diligently volunteered hours of their time to help with this project. With the current economic situation many of our teams members are needing more time to work on other venues to keep themselves and their families financially afloat.

After months of hard work I feel they all deserve a bit of a break to come back at this project with a fresh head and with life's other stresses taken care of and not looming over them. Rest assured we will finish this project, but currently we need to take a step back, seek out alternate funding, work on other projects so if worst comes to worst we can cover the last 50% of costs out of our own pockets. That is our currently plan of attack.

Thank you all for your support thus far. You can stay updated with our current projects Via Facebook.

Finally a huge thank you to our films sponsor "Welcome Homes LTD" you can check out their stuff and connect with them via http://www.welcomehomesltd.com/

UPDATE #4: Production Starts Next Week.

Thank you to everyone who has donated and shown interest over the past two months. Although we have had many set backs specifically with funding and our teams personal life's trials and tribulations we are slowly getting started and each day inching closer and closer towards our goal. Unfortunately because of the later start then expected our films end date has to keep being pushed back. As of now we are aiming to have it completed by January of 2016. Either way even if it is finished a few months later then expected as the saying goes "it's better late then never".

UPDATE #3 Indie Films.

First off thank you so much to everyone who has supported our project thus far. As well huge thanks to our films sponsor Welcome Homes LTD.

We have some exciting news as of late. The 528 Evenings Media team prides itself in helping as many individuals as it can(as I'm sure you can see with us pursuing this documentary). This includes helping aspiring actresses, actors, writers and filmmakers. Before 528 Evenings was founded I was working as a freelance filmmaker/editor and I must say it is extremely difficult to get your feet in the door, especially when growing up and living in a small town.

I have seen first hand the talent many individuals naturally have. The main issue for most is they lack the means to get their name out there, get their foot in the door and start living their dream. This is where 528 Evenings comes in. I started in the independent filmmaking scene and we want to help others follow their dreams. Leading up to and following the documentary you will be seeing some short films, music videos and mini documentaries popping up on our official youtube channel and on our various social media platforms. We wanted to address this and clarify we are still doing this documentary and actively are working on it but are also helping others pursue their dreams by giving them an opportunity to get into the media production industry.

As a warning many of the independent films we do usually will have some form of mature themes or language so I would recommend them for the older audience but none the less I hope you enjoy. You can stay up to date with all our productions by following us on social media. As well if you would like to view our youtube channel and our latest short film "Time" you can do so here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uXZeYnlv1-E
