Melinda Walker Medical Fund

Melinda "Mindy" Walker is our precious sister, friend and teacher. She was struck with a very serious illness that affected her liver and kidneys. Her health declined rapidly in the last few months and she was placed on the transplant list for a liver and kidneys on March 24, 2017. God had a plan and worked quickly to save Mindy's life. There is a beautiful family who, lovingly, made the decision to donate their loved ones' organs to give the gift of life. Mindy received a miracle and her transplant happened only six days after being placed on the list, on March 30, 2017 at UC Medical Center in Cincinnati. She remains in the Critical Care Unit and has a long recovery ahead of her. She is a fighter and has a strong will to live. 

Everyone who knows Mindy is aware of her beautiful, bubbly personality. Prior to her retirement, during her 30 years as an English teacher, she was the favorite of so many students, even when English wasn't their favorite subject. She had a knack to engage everyone. Her sense of humor, wit and positive outlook on life are contagious. If Mindy is around, friends and family can count on laughter. 

We have created this Gofundme page to help Mindy with the staggering medical costs that have already been mounting. In addition to doctor, hospital and rehab costs, Mindy's anti rejection drugs and other prescriptions will be costly, even after insurance. Many of these meds will be prescribed for the rest of her life.
