Life is Short Bucket List Challenge

Tax deductible
In October 2015, my Mum was killed at the age of 62 while at a shopping centre in Australia. Realising that life is short, it’s made me want to do many of the things I’ve always wanted to do, but have been putting off.

From trekking to Everest Base Camp, Machu Picchu and the Great Wall of China, to writing a best-selling novel and raising funds for charity, I want to make the most that life has to offer, and do good things for others in the process. So with that in mind, I’ve ‘short-listed’ 62 bucket list items to aim for over the next 62 months (ending in May 2021). As they are so varied, the plan is not to necessarily do one per month, but to always be doing something towards achieving one of the 62 – whether that be planning, training, fundraising or whatever.

Grief can paralyse you, and I’m experiencing the ups and downs of that, but it can also teach you how strong you can be. Some people are stronger than others, and need a helping hand, but often resources are stretched. Many of the things I’m intending to do will coincide with the anniversaries of Mum’s death, as well as her birthday, but there are also some milestones of my own (40 is the new 30??).

Not everyone copes with grief in the same way, and one thing I've found is that the support of charitable organisations is vital - yet bereavement is so common, as is widespread loss due to tragic events, that there is more demand for the services that can be provided. Throughout the whole 62 months, I will be raising funds for the Red Cross internationally, but also for individual organisations. You can read more on my website .
