Help Meghan Kick Cancer's Ass

Dear Family, Friends, (and friends we haven’t met yet),

I want to introduce you to my loving, vivacious, spirited, niece, Meghan Miller.  Meghan is a 33-year-old Canadian/American actor, writer, dancer, filmmaker, director (and bartender in between gigs) who has lived in New York City for several years in pursuit of her creative work.

At a very early age, and after losing her precious dad, Meghan, true to her fearless nature, set out on her own to her now beloved NYC to pursue her dream of acting and writing (and hasn’t looked back). She’s had successful times, followed by lean times. But throughout, Meghan has thrived on being around other artists and contributing to the performing arts, her true passion.

In mid-October, 2018, Meghan suffered odd, sporadic symptoms, including swelling in her face and fainting spells. Many tests and E.R. visits later and suddenly Meghan was given the diagnosis:  Mediastinal B-cell Lymphoma, in the form of a 9cm tumour in her chest cavity.

The good news is that this is absolutely treatable, but not without a “helluva” fight ahead of her.

That’s why we’re asking for your help.

With barely time to process or make plans, Meghan has remained in hospital and has had to start treatment immediately. This includes six rounds of strong chemo drugs for five or six days in a row with only a couple of weeks' break in between sessions. Her immune system will be highly compromised. The doctors have said that due to the intensive treatment schedule and expected side-effects, she will not be able to work or travel for up to a year, impacting  her ability to pay rent, utilities and groceries, in addition to transport for her many doctor and hospital appointments... Therefore, we are asking you to contribute what you can so that Meghan can get better and return to work as soon as possible.

Meghan has a loving and supportive network of friends and family both in Canada and New York including siblings Matthew, Valerie, Laura and Edward and her step-father, Mike, along with Meghan’s mother Rhona who has temporarily relocated to NYC.  Meg’s step-mom Janice will also travel from Canada to be there whenever she can to help in Meghan’s recovery.  She is surrounded by so much love from so many, including that of her extended (and extensive)  Rochefort family.

Meghan is a strong and feisty young woman, which is why we know that she will kick ass and come out of this ordeal an even stronger individual and  back to normal life without the added stress of an insurmountable financial burden awaiting her. We want to help her get there, healthy and whole.

She will do it!  She just needs your help to get her through this really hard part!
