Megan's Story:
When Megan was 31 years old she had life by the tail; happily married to the man she loved and mother to two beautiful, spirited, and rambunctious three year old twin boys. Then disaster struck......after finding a strange lump in her breast, she was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. A year later, with chemo and radiation behind her and determined to give herself the best possible chance at full recovery, she had a double mastectomy. Somehow, she remained her usual witty, upbeat self throughout this ordeal - a feat in and of itself.

Despite her and her medical team’s best efforts to prevent it, at 33 the cancer metastisized to Megan's bones, and eventually to her liver. Her current treatment regimen, meant to stem the growth and spread of the existing cancer, consists of oral medication once a day, a shot once a month and a three hour IV drip once a month. Treatments and travel have been and continue to be expensive and a constant drain on the family’s limited financial resources.

Despite this difficult diagnosis, Megan does her best to stay positive, plan for the future and live life to its fullest each day, maintaining her household and taking loving care of her family. To her broader family, she remains a great daughter, an endlessly supportive and wonderful sister, and caring friend.

Meg's maternal grandmother lives in British Columbia and because money is in short supply, they have not seen each other for 20 years.......Meg’s grandmother has never met her great-grandsons. One of Megan's desires is to see her grandmother and introduce her sons to their great-grandmother, but has been unable to afford the cost of travel. Please help to make this possible.

Meg's parents and two boys would accompany her on the cross-country trek.  She cannot fly, so the funds would provide a van rental, hotels, modest meals from  Fredericton, New Brunswick to Powell River, British Columbia and back home again.

They hope to go in the early summer, funds permitting.

I have been a friend of this family for many, many years.  Everyone who knows Meg loves her and you would too. This would mean the world to her, to see her grandmother and allow her boys to meet their great-grandmother.  Every dollar will be gratefully received and we will be thankfkul to you.
