Paradise For Mee Yang

Mee Yang was born on July 5th, 1970 in Long Cheng, Laos. Mee and her husband, Vajmeng Xiong fled Laos to Thailand for safety from communist soldiers. After the death of her husband, she decided to flee from poverty. Knowing no Thai nor English, Mee immigrated to the United States in 2004 with her 9 children–the oldest being only 17-years-old and the youngest being 3-years-old. Mee has always been a mother who puts her children first and her needs last. She was both a mother and a father figure, making sure her children never felt like they had less than others. She was selfless, even when she was dying.
It was as if Mee was fighting fire with fire. Escaping poverty and giving her children a better chance at life was not enough, she was diagnosed with Gallbladder Cancer Stage 4 in 2015. Being the fearless and strong woman she was, she was determined to fight against cancer for her children and grandchildren. On April 10th, 2017 at 2:46 A.M., our loving mother took her last breath. We had watched our mother grow thin and weak, as she laid on her deathbed in our own home, unable to help her as cancer had already dispersed to all her organs. Her grandchildren will remember her as a giving and warm-hearted grandmother who always knew how to have some fun. Her children will remember her as a compassionate mother and a father they never had.
Like how Mee Yang has always made sure her children had the best of everything, we, her children wish to send our loving mother off with the best of everything. It is the least we can do after everything she has given us. We are asking for donations–big or small– to help us reach our goal of raising $15,000 for our mother's funeral that will be held on May 13th, 2017. May our only mother, rest in paradise.
