Fly with our Film !

Our first film, Meditations on the Tide, was selected for a film festival in Scotland and we would like to go with it! We have two weeks for fundraising!! For any gift over $11 we'll send the secret link to see our 11 minute film.

Samantha Fields and Sue Murad met in art school in 1994. They have since shared studio spaces for many years and observed and encouraged each others work along the way. Meditations on the Tide is their second collaborative project and their first film together.

Being in a festival has been a goal of Sue's ever since she and her UV Protection band mates played at opening night parties for the Independent Film Festival Boston. They would get free passes every year and through that experience of independent filmmaking she was hooked. Meditations on the Tide is her first film to be accepted into a festival and the first of six films from an ongoing series, Performance +.  Samantha is looking forward to not only participating in her first international showing, but the chance to be in dialogue with other international makers who are also thinking about the intersection of object, craft and the performative.

The project originated when an opportunity to collaborate arrived and Samantha invited Sue to document a work of time-based performance she had been developing for the show Cove, Site Responsive Installations on Georges Island curated by Liz Devlin. The performance was an introspective piece in relation to the rhythm of the waves and the cycle of the tide. For Sue, what began as a more straightforward documentation of Sam and the increasing and decreasing shoreline, expanded once they settled into the location and she synthesized her experience of Sam, the tide, and the island itself.
