Medical Supplies for Tanzania

In 2016 Maji Cooperative shipped a 40' container to South Western Tanzania, filled with donated surplus Medical Supplies. from Kalispell, Montana. Hospital beds, Wheelchairs, Walkers, Crutches, Mamography Biopsy Machine, etc etc. The Hospitals and Village Dispensaries in this country are struggling to provide quality services like many developing Nations.
As well, 30 years ago a Polio Epidemic ravaged many people, mostly children who are now adults and have crawled on hands and knees ever since. While the polio epedemic has mostly been halted, the victims have seemingly forgotten still drag themselves around villages and city streets. A secondhand wheelchair brings huge hope and dignity to these folks.
These funds pay for the costs of purchasing and shipping of the container from Montana to Seattle, Dar es Salaam, and then trucking to Songea. The container stays in the area. Container #1 is now a maintenance shop for Water Pump and Wheelchair service in Mwanamonga Village, Songea. A village team has been trained in Water Pump and wheelchair repair.
The womens Mamography Biopsy Machine was situated in Northern Tanzania in Bugando Hospital where we found an Oncologist who had been trained on the same machine in Italy for 7 years. Never thinking he would ever have the opportunity to use the same machine for his own people. In 2008 the machine cost US$250,000 and was still in brand new condition! A donation for the women of Tanzania!
This is just a snapshot of our work. This is a huge help for so many folks who have nothing. I cant explain what this means to this Nation. For me its an incredible privelage to be a part of this work. But it is impossible without your help as well. We have teams of volunteers helping sort and pack the containers.
Container #3 (covered by this Go Fund Me) for 2018 already has donated supplies
The funds are all spent on the project. All Gregg Scotts travel and personal expenses are covered privately. No salaries or admin costs are deducted from gifts except for Go Fund Me. Any fund surplus will go towards water (maji) needs, or other Medical Supplies.
