Dear friends of Swift,
Richard needs your love and support now as he is up against some tough odds.
He has been hospitalized due to a serious medical condition.
He is receiving excellent care in Tacoma Washington and everything is being done to allow his body time to repair and heal.
He is uninsured and the cost of the care he is getting is a lot. If you can afford to share the weight of this burden, it would be most deeply appreciated. Anything helps.
Mostly thank you for supporting our beloved Richard and his family .

Thank you, Jess Wolfe for providing this wonderful photo.

It is with great sadness we inform you that Richard passed early this morning while in hospice, his family near, his favorite records playing. We all know of his immense talent, but he also could be a deep well of generosity and kindness. He was motivated by discovery, a fearless explorer of other artists and their work, and what he found he shared. "Listen to this," he said. "Look at this." He layered all that discovery into his brilliant—at times melancholy, at times euphoric—music. So much music came out of him. Music he gave to the artists he worked with. Music that supported. Music that challenged. Music that said, be better, we can be better. It was this insatiable pursuit of his own ability, his need for control and creation, that spilled into his personal life, a pursuit that sadly, tragically, swallowed him up.

Those that knew him will remember his dangerously sharp wit, his nose for bullshit, the moments he'd drop the black-clad coolness and break into a goofy dance to make you laugh,  his belief in loyalty, his funky hair, and his honest desire, in the whirl and fury of this world, to be good.

He leaves his wife Shealynn, his children Madison, Adrian, and Kennedy, his Dad Enrique, his brothers Enrique, Jeff, Fernando, Kevin and Jonathan.

Over the last month of his hospitalization and hospice care, the medical costs have been staggering and have put a great burden on his family. Your help—of any size—will make a difference.

Thank you all for your love and support.

Friends of R. Swift.

P.S. Put on some Howlin' Wolf or Link Wray or Prince or whatever you dig and turn it up, real loud. He'd like that.

Thank you so much for your support, friends!! We are so grateful you have extended so much generosity and love to our beloved Swift. He has been making some progress the last two days and Drs are impressed with the way be has been responding to the care he's been getting.

I wanted to let you know I have set up your donations to go directly into Richard's bank account so that bills can be paid and expenses met while he is staying in the hospital.

I will continue to post updates here. Thank you again for all your donations!! This campaign will not only help pay medical bills, your kind words and hope are very encouraging. It means the world to the whole family.
