Medical & Final Expenses For Mike Raub's Family

Donation protected

Mike Raub touched so many lives  over the years, it's hard to know where to begin.  He helped so many folks, gave so many people their start- his family needs our help right now!

Comic book fandom.
Broadcast radio.
Those could be said are the 2 pillars of Mike Raub's life.
Comics and radio. Mike touched so many people's lives through one or the other if not both.

Mike worked in radio before he was a comics retailer but he was active in the fan community since the 1960s. Radio is what brought him to CT. His roomate at the time: fellow comics fans (& future comics professionals.) If you were in the Stamford area "back in the day" and listening to local stations you probably enjoyed tunes thanks to Mike without even knowing it. Or maybe you're lucky and do know.

Mike eventually left radio to become a comic book retailer. Owning a chain of stores that at its height saw stores in Fairfield and New Haven Counties in CT, as well as Westchester and Rockland County NY. While he never fully achieved his goal of a Dream Factory store in every mall in America, he helped elevate what retail comic book stores should aspire to both in appearance and customer service.

He believed comics were for everybody and everybody should feel welcome. His first employee was a woman! You may have heard of her if you're a comics fan, that first employed was Amanda Connor. Years later, I was one of many female employees across the company.

Mike returned to radio in the mid-90s. He worked at stations and companies all over the state: KC101, 95.9 the Fox, WSTC/WNLK and I'm sure I'm missing a bunch.

Mike's battle began the day after Christmas 2017. He was admitted to the hospital and was there for months, eventually being released to a rehabilitation center for a couple more months until finally being able to go home last Spring. Sadly, while his spirits were markedly lifted being home with Kai & the boys he didn't see any real improvement in his health. And even though he was making plans for the future: to see Avengers:Endgame, to get back to internet radio projects; his body just didn't have any more fight left, by 6:50pm on Tuesday he was gone.

After such a prolonged illness, the double tap of medical bills and an inability to work and earn an income was a burden he was too proud to ask for help with. I however am not too proud to ask you to help us help Mike's family with the final expenses and outstanding medicals bills and living expenses.

$8,000. That's really not that much. Five bucks from less than 2,000 would let us take this weight off of Kai and the boys whom Mike loved more fiercely than even comics and radio.
