In the late hours of October 1, 2017, Amanda Peterson was one of the many victims who was shot while attending the Rt. 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas, Nevada.  She is currently in critical, but stable condition at the Sunrise Hospital in the Cardiac ICU.

My name is Sheila Decker and I live in Sterling Colorado and I have been Amandas best friend since we both attended Chiropractic school in 2007.    I have made this go fund me account so I can help amanda out anyway I can while she is recovering and not working to pay her bills and every day necessities. I will be withdrawing the money for amanda and paying these bills for her or anything else she may need during this recovery time.  This will also pay her unforeseen  medical expenses in the future.

Amanda is one of the most kind, giving souls to have graced so many of our lives. She is also an amazing mother to Jacen, a beautiful six-year old boy who needs his mommy to get better. As a Chiropractor and healer, she has nursed so many of us to health and has been there when we needed her most. It is our turn to give back as Amanda's Army.

Amanda received a gunshot wound to her lower back that impacted her aorta, stomach, spleen, liver and kidneys. The type of bullet she was hit with fragmented like shrapnel instead of just exiting the other side of the body. This is why so many of her organs have been damaged. Amanda had surgery to remove the bullet and repair the extensive damage to her aorta and the left side of her stomach. During this surgery they had to cross clamp her aorta while repairing it – causing her kidneys to have no blood for an hour. Once the aorta was repaired they were able to let blood flow back to the kidneys.

She is currently on a ventilator, but is slowly coming in and out of consciousness. She will be having a second surgery on October 4 to close her abdomen wound and ensure that there is no additional damage to her organs. Updates will be posted as we know more.

We don't know a long-term prognosis at this point, but her livelihood depends on her physical health. Please help in any way that you can whether it be monetarily for medical needs or simply saying a few extra prayers for our girl to get her back on her feet and back to being 100% as soon as possible.

Thank you all for your continued thoughts, prayers, and well wishes, they will all be passed along to Amanda by myself Sheila Decker, her best friend from Chiropractic school.

Amanda update:

Amanda is finally home! She's recuperating, doing physical therapy, enjoying her own bed and shower and beyond happy to finally be with her son!

She is requesting private time to heal and hopes that everyone understands. She is not on her cell phone, so please know she isn't ignoring people, just that she doesn't have the energy to keep up with texts and calls.

Amanda is so grateful for all the love, prayers and support and looks forward to seeing people when she is ready.

Amanda has been moved to an acute care facility in California close to her home. She will be there for at least 7 days when the doctors meet and decide on the further plan ( which will most likely be another week). She no longer has an infection and is working on getting her swelling down. She had several CT scans and Ultrasounds yesterday to make sure she didn't have blood clots or need heart surgery. All came back good and they checked her kidneys and her labs came back good on that as well. The doctors believe her kidneys will just need time to work properly again and the swelling should go down. Her abdomen incision is healing as expected. She also suffered a Transverse process compression fracture to her L1 and L2 along with shrapnel to her L1 body. She was having muscle spasms and a lot of pain that is getting managed better. Amanda is not taking visitors because she needs her strength to heal, therefore she would like to keep her location private at this time. She is so amazed at all the continued support. Some people have messaged us about not wanting to donate on the Go Fund Me page due to fees. The fees are waived due to the circumstances of the tragedy. All updates will be continued to come throughout the Go Fund Me page and directly from Amanda.

Thank You!
Sheila Decker

Today is my last day with Amanda... she is still fighting an infection but we were told she is stable enough to transfer to an acute care facility in California as soon as the paperwork gets figured out. She is still needing a lot of rest rest rest.. her swelling is back up today. They're trying to manage that as well. She appreciates all the love, text, and calls. There is a team of people managing her phone and lap top so please slow down on the messages. We will update on here as much as we can. She will let people know when she can have visitors. ;) Thank you!!! She seriously loves you all!

-Sheila ;)
