Meet Brooks, Suffield Animal Control’s newest and sweetest family member!! He was found tied to a tree and left to die overnight in a snow storm. He had many signs of neglect, but it wasn’t until we brought him to the vet that we found out how much medical care he really needed. Brooks was completely shaved due to his severely matted hair, he had a large tumor growing on his back leg along with cuts on his back legs caused from the leash being tangled around cutting off the circulation, a severe ear infection, teeth that are infected and needing extraction. We are having his tumor removed and tested for cancer asap.

Unfortunately, the Suffield Dog Pound is given a small budget for any medical needs that arise throughout the year for the dogs at the pound.

Myself and the other volunteers that help take care of the dogs on a daily basis decided it’s time to ask the public for help!  If Brooks’ story struck a chord with you, any donation amount will help pay off the medical bills for his recovery! Every cent of the donations that are left over (after making sure Brooks gets a clean bill of health) will be put towards any future dogs who come to us and need medical attention.

As a volunteer to the Suffield Dog pound for the past 3 years, our number one priority is making sure these dogs understand that they are loved and they can trust humans. We will do everything in our power to make sure we find the most PERFECT loving FOREVER home for them. We will not stop fighting for Justice for these animals who are left behind like they are worthless.

Brooks will be available for adoption once he is cleared by the Vet. Please follow the Suffield Animal Control Facebook Page for updates.

Thank you in advance for any donations.

With love,

The Suffield Animal Control Volunteers

Myself and the volunteers at Suffield Animal shelter have a heavy heart writing this post. Brooks has unfortunately crossed the rainbow bridge. Brooks was adopted by an amazing loving family a few weeks ago, where he received many cuddles, love and comfy beds to snuggle in! Unfortunately shortly after being adopted they found a very aggressive tumor on his kidney and the cancer was spreading rapidly. Brooks family and vets decided it was best to put him down before the cancer got worse and he struggled anymore. With a heavy heart we want to say thank you to each and every one of you who cared by donating, sending kind messages and prayers. Thank you to the family who adopted Brooks and showered him with love up until he crossed the rainbow bridge.

Because of all of the generous people who donated to Brooks story, we are able to pay for all of Brooks medical needs up until his passing. In addition, 100% of the funds left over from this cause will be used to help with medical needs for any future abandoned dogs.

Again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the love and compassion you have all shared, the messages we received for Brooks over the past two months have shown how amazing people in this world are. And too sweet sweet Brooks, you will always have a special place in our hearts, and will never ever be forgotten. Rest in peace.

Warmly,
The volunteers at Suffield Animal Shelter

The Volunteers at Suffield/East Granby Animal Shelter wanted to reach out and say THANK YOU to every single person who donated, from the bottom of our hearts. Brooks’ story has been spread nationwide and because of all of the generous and kind people who donated we surpassed our goal!

With everyone’s generous donations, he is able to start getting all of the treatment that Brooks needs prior to being placed up for adoption!

He has been groomed and no longer is being weighed down by his severely matted coat. He is one happy boy now!! Today the large tumor on his leg was removed and he is on the mend, samples will be taken for further testing. As we were leaving the vet today he was on his way in for oral surgery. He had severely rotted teeth, which unfortunately meant he needed several teeth extracted, but we told him his smile is still going to be the MOST handsome!! He’s been receiving medical treatment for a severe ear infection. And blood samples have been taken and have come back with more than favorable results!

Brooks loves people, dogs, and cats! There isn’t a person or animal he’s met that he doesn’t love. He’s found his favorite spot on his comforter and made himself his own throne inside the vets’ office. He is getting lots of love and attention from everyone at the vet!

Any excess donations remaining after Brooks’ medical care is paid for will help to better the lives for future abandoned dogs at the Suffield/East Granby Animal Shelter, you have no idea how much your donations are appreciated. Thank you, everyone, for your continued support!

I will do my best to keep this page updated periodically. I will make sure that everyone will know when he’s ready to go to his forever home.

With love and appreciation,
Suffield/East Granby Animal Shelter
