Meadow's Recovery Journey

Donation protected
Anyone who knows Meadow knows she is one of the most giving and selfless people out there.   Meadow graduated college in May and immediately went to Ghana where she volunteered this year and last at Virgin Kids Academy, helping to build a bakery that will allow the school to be self-sustainable for supplies and care for the children.   Meadow paid her way to get there, created a fundraising drive for the school, and collected books to bring for the children.   Her plan after arriving back to the states was to spend two weeks in Alaska visiting her grandparents before settling down with her boyfriend, Kyle, in Delaware and starting her career in August teaching Autistic children.

Last night, Meadow and her grandfather, David, were severely injured by a propane tank explosion at the cabin they were renting.  Her grandmother, Ellen, was also involved in the accident.  Meadow has sustained second degree burns over 25% of her body, with the worst on her face, neck, chest, and hands.  She was flown to Seattle where she is now being treated and will stay for the next few months.   Her parents, Layla (a teacher) and Ed (a chef), live on the east coast with their other two teenage children.

The journey ahead of Meadow will be long but that is all we know at this point.  Layla and Ed will need to find temporary housing in Seattle while Meadow recovers.  Medical bills will need to be paid.  There will be travel costs associated with flying back and forth between Pennsylvania and Washington.  And that is just what is in the foreseeable future.

Help us give back to Meadow just a little bit of what she has given to so many others.  If you cannot afford to donate, please help spread the word.

With much gratitude

Sabina (on behalf of Meadow, Layla, and Ed)
