In Memory of Matthew McClintock
Matt was one of the funniest, kindest and most loving people I have ever met, so it is on Allie and Declan's behalf that this was created. All donations will go straight to Allie, to help out her and her son during this time of tremendous lost. While the Army will take care of Allie and Declan, it takes time for those benefits to be processed. This is to assist with immediate needs to help Allie care for herself and Declan.
First, the memorial service information for the services being held in New Mexico are in the prior update. The memorial service that will be held at Ft Lewis will be on February 25th, however it's a small limited space memorial for his team, family, and close friends. We will have more information on his funeral in Arlington soon and when we do it will be made public.
Second, the Army times did an amazing article that is worth reading if you wish to get to know Matt and Allie a little better.
Again, thank you all so much for the support and love, Matthew, Declan, and I are so lucky to have all of you. Thank you."
Allie has started doing interviews, here is one of the first ones for our local news channel
At this time there is no news about services for Matthew, but once I have information to share I will post it in an update. Thank you so much for your support.
"This shows my love better than any article or blurb on the nine o'clock news could ever dream to. This is the man my son and I lost. This is the man an entire family lost. This is the man teammates lost. This is the man the world lost. This, this is my love."
And once again thank you to every person who has donated, shared, and messaged. It's amazing to see just how kind the world can be during the darkest times. And it gives me a little bit more hope in humanity
Today I wept for a man I do not personally know. Today my heart sank as I read the news of the passing of not only a brother but a fellow chiver. Chive on Seattle was there for me in a time that I needed. I can only hope that my contribution can help you in your time of need. Until Valhalla Matt. We will meet again. Thank you for keeping this nation free.
Please know that as a fellow soldier's wife, my heart is breaking with you. I can only pray that you find the strength to get through the most awful time that we all feared most. Mostly, I pray for love. Nothing but love surrounding you at your darkest hour. Someday, when your son is old enough- I pray he knows what a hero his Daddy was and is. In memory of the silly, kind, awesome guy that everyone loved. #cheersmatt #forthosewhogaveall #ftwga #tatonka
There are no words adequate to describe the feelings of loss experienced by those who knew you, but...Matt, you were an amazing person. The depth of your character showed through everything you did. I'm blessed to have known you. You will be deeply missed, but your family will be cared for and loved by everyone who knew you. Thank you for your selfless service.
I have no adequate words to write on my own, but I found this poem that touched my heart: The muffled drum’s sad roll has beat The soldier’s last tattoo; No more on Life’s parade shall meet The brave and fallen few. On Fame’s eternal camping-ground Their silent tents are spread, And Glory guards, with solemn round The bivouac of the dead. - Theodore O’Hara, American poet and soldier
Alexandra and Declan I want to thank you for your ultimate sacrifice. Your husband/father was a hero and is the reason me and my family have the protection and freedom we enjoy. There are no words that will help but please know that he made a difference and will never be forgotten. God bless you and your entire family!
My heart breaks for you and your family and I ask God to give you the strength you will need for the long road ahead of you. I know all to well what you are facing as I lost my nephew Marine Sgt. Bradley Atwell in the Camp Bastion attack that occurred on Sept 14 2012. He was killed by an RPG, our hearts still ache today and we miss him so very much!! I will pray for you!!!
My heart breaks reading this, I pray for your family that they somehow find the strength to carry on. As the mother of an Army Captain, who thankfully came back safe from Afghanistan and the Aunt to a fallen Marine, Lance Cpl Thomas Rivers Jr KIA Helmand Province April 2010 , I can only express my heartfelt thanks for Matt's service and ultimate sacrifice.
Alexandra, my heart is breaking for you, your son, the rest of the family, and his brothers that served with him. i knew of your husband, due to the adopt a u.s soldier program. He was in the unit of the soldier that was assigned to me... i always put extra items in the packages for them all to share. i pray that the items i sent, brought him and the rest of his bothers some comfort over there. Praying that you find the comfort and strength you need to get through this in our Blessed Lord. RIP Matthew McClintock
