Crooked Island Joaquin Relief Fund

After losing contact on Thursday, only two houses in a settlement on Crooked Island were habitable by the end of Hurricane Joaquin. When the storm destroyed people's homes, some had to sleep in cars until the storm passed or until their car filled up with water and they were forced to find shelter elsewhere.  Most of the roads have been destroyed. Now, the storm has left the the people on Crooked Island in shock; without food, electricity, water, beds, bedding, clothes, and shelter. There has been so much destruction on this island. Although the island is small, we need to get the word out, the people need help! We have a lot of people asking how they can help, so please share this and donate. Anything helps.
My name is Jodie Kenney I am from Lake Worth FL, my daughters and I started fund to help the people in Crooked Island.  We had a vacation home there for 13 years until it was destroyed by the hurricane.  We know most of all the people that live or lived there.  We are raising money for the local Bahamians on Crooked Island to help them start to rebuild their houses and their lives. We are going to purchase building supplies such as tar paper, plywood, tarps, shingles  for repair of roofs, generators and other items that are needed to repair their homes so they can resume some normalcy in their lives. I am in charge of the money and will be ordering items and having them shipped.  Steve "Nappy" Daxson will assist in distributing the supplies as to who needs the repairs.  Some of the people have already received help from others that have donated or through fundraising.  
For 15 years Crooked Island and the people who live there have  been a big part of our lives.  To be able to give back to them at this time of need is very important to our family,  friends  and as well as others who have donated.  The destruction is horrific and they need all the help they can get to help rebuild their lives. It's very hard to get supplies to this island.
