Max the dog is in the hospital!

We adopted Max on Saturday, 2/11/17 and he came home with a cough. Fast forward a few days later and he has labored breathing, is extremely lethargic, won't eat, and will barely drink any water. Even though he is a new pet, I knew something was wrong. We took him straight to the veterinary ER where he was diagnosed with aspiration pneumonia. He likely caught an infection at the shelter and it progressively got worse. After some chest x-rays, his doctor says we caught it really early but still recommended at least 24 hours of hospitalization where he will receive round-the-clock care, oxygen, IV fluids, and antibiotics.

The initial estimate for his care was $1400. He will likely need more x-rays and follow-up appointments to see how he is progressing. I have never done a crowdfund before, but I have certainly donated to many, so I figure it is worth a try. Either way, even though he has only been in our care for a few days, he is our dog and we will do what we can to save his life.
