Max kicks cancer's butt

$12,170 of $18,000 goal

Raised by 119 people in 5 months
We are raising money to support Maxwell Kullaway of Seattle Washington. Many of you have asked how to help Max as he goes through treatment for stage 3 rectal cancer.  Our dear friend set up a meal train for meals. You can access that by going to mealtrain.com/68yv7k

She had also set up a fundraising campaign on mealtrain but they were taking really high fees so we set this up instead.  The money you give will be used to offset the $18,000 in medical bills and lost wages we anticipate needing. Thank you so much to our community.  We know he will make it through with your love as his tailwind.

Greetings, dear friends. Max's 1st surgery went well. He is recovering faster than they expected (because he's so strong). He's been challenging all the other patients to race him with their IV poles around the hallways. I fear one of these other drugged up patients might take him up on it and they put max on a black list for causing a ruckus. This is a really nice hospital and we've been very pleased with his care. They've let me stay here with him the whole time. I dont know how people could manage alone. At times, he's needed me just to hold his hand to help with the pain. I know all of your messages have really helped lift him.

We hope to head home early, then start 4 months of chemotherapy in a month or so. We'll beat this!

Hi everyone,

Max had his last day of the first round of chemo/radiation today. We now have an 8 week break before his first surgery. He's pretty low energy and in quite a bit of pain, but doctors say he should be turning a corner in 2 weeks or so. Your support has really lifted us. Thank you so much.

from Max: It’s been a few weeks since I’ve been on a bike but this week the bike got some super low gearing which to keep the legs spinning nice and easy. @tarrell_kullaway and I spun out to Golden Gardens and then did a few errands in Ballard on the bikes and I couldn’t be happier. I picked up a new watercolor block, some new colors, and some sweet John Lennon stamps that some of you will be getting soon in the mail :) Thanks to all who have given me words of strength and gifts of support. I’m halfway done with my first stage of treatment and so far not feeling much side effects aside from a bit of fatigue and the feeling that I have strange drugs in my system but hey, that’s the deal when you have cancer and are receiving chemo and radiation. #gratitude @ Golden Gardens Beach

Just so you all know, though Max is undergoing chemo and radiation right now, he is still in the shop Monday-friday and intends to be able to keep that up until his surgery late January as long as his energy allows. Making bikes keeps his spirits up!
