MATW Africa Project with Ali Banat
During his 2 week journey, Ali met local children and families and has seen their situation first hand. What started as a personal project has turned into a long term vision to bring joy to the smiles of children all over the world. Muslims Around the World aims to build a village which will be home to over 200 widows, a masjid for the local community and a school to house 600 orphans. A mini hospital/medical centre and businesses to support the local community are also going to be established. With Muslims Around the World, 100% of the donations will be delivered with 0% administrative fee as all fees are covered by sponsorship.
All funds collected are divided and spent amongst the 3 projects MATW has running at the moment MATW Village, Chive Project and Cemetry Project. We purchase all materials for all three sites, pay workers, provide food for those on sight and aid for those who in need also. In creating these 3 projects we have created on going sustainable support.
*Update as of 23rd October 2018*
Dear supporters, we are so excited to fill you in on how MATW has progressed, since the establishment of our GoFundMe campaign, by our late founder Ali Banat may God have mercy on him. We would like to thank everyone deeply for the immense support we have received. We especially thank all those who have funded, shared and involved themselves in this great initiative!
We want to keep you posted, on what we have accomplished so far:
From 2016, much has transpired on the grounds in our project locations of Togo, Tsevie and Agbodan. Our mission was to establish fully furnished widow homes, including provisions of food and utilities, multiple schools and colleges. An orphanage, shops for self-sustainability and a cemetery with included facilities such as a vehicle for transportation.
Since our last update, we have raised $925,845.00 due to all your efforts!
To date we have completed construction on our 10-acre cemetery, with an attached mosque. The wash room is at a 90% completion and we have purchased our funeral vehicle ready for use. We have also included in the cemetery, a garden where families can visit the deceased.
Our Tsevie village which includes, 30 equipped widow homes, a school, a mosque, an agricultural farm and chicken poultry farm is now complete and fully functioning.
Our Tsevie school, has 600 attendees and growing. Due to the demand we have had to extend the current school to accommodate, for an additional 200 students on a wait list to attend. Our agricultural farm is flourishing, producing large amounts of vegetation, weekly for distribution. The produce is utilised for those who live in the village, and also to sell to the local public. Our chicken poultry farm is producing 5000 eggs weekly, poultry are for sale to the public and also used for those in the village. All homes are now occupied by families, and the village is thriving. The village has been arranged to be sustainable, for many years to come.
The MATW Kpoga beach village, which is the largest of our projects consists of 200 widow homes, an orphanage, a fully equipped sewing college, and one fully equipped aluminium/woodwork college. There is an extensive school for primary and secondary students, a bakery, an outdoor cinema and a number of super-markets. It is close to completion with half of the houses already inhabited by numerous widows and their families. Our school is fully functioning with up to, 1000 students attending on a daily basis. Both colleges are completely operative with students, producing materials and items such as uniforms for students, and supplies to use in our construction process.
This project has been nurtured to a point, where once complete it will fully sustain itself. This is made possible through the various avenues we have taken, in order to ensure the village succeeds for many more years to come. This is made possible from our bakery, our super markets and material production facilities.
We are also in the middle stages of establishing an educational center, this will account for those who wish to further their education beyond secondary school and college. This project will be a first of its kind, in Togo and we are excited to take you on this journey with us.

We value and appreciate all your support to help make way for a better future, for the people of Africa.
Sincerely MATW Team.
All donations made to Gofund are deposited to the MATW-PROJECT account which is Matw Project Accnt Number: 505-406 BsB: 032-361. These funds are collected and dealt with personally by myself. The funds are being used as you can see from the posts i have made on both Facebook and instagram to support the three projects i have running in Africa Togo. Project 1 (Matw Village): is the construction of homes for widows and children with accompanying schools and mosques with shops to help support the MATW Village. Project 2 (School): This beautiful project consists of a school as well as a mosque and homes for widows and children. We have also begun to construct an amazing wash place that has a garden in the middle of it for our brothers and sister to wash before prayer. Project 3: (Cemetery): This project is the first of its kind in Africa, it consists of a large burial ground as well as a mosque and place to wash the dead and a beautiful garden for families to sit. Hi, my name Is Shaneik Watson and I am making this gofundme on behalf of my 29 yr old Aunt, Shanna Chen, and her 7 yr old daughter Brianna. On Friday, December 15th, 2017 Shanna went to the emergency room at Vassar Brothers Hospital because she was experiencing severe headaches. As a result of that visit, she and our family was devastated to find out that she had 2 brain aneurysms and would have to undergo emergency surgery that following morning. Shanna went into surgery for what was supposed to be a 4-6 hour procedure, It ended up being 15 hours. The doctor explained to us that during the procedure her brain began to bleed out and swell so they had to work vigorously to stop the bleeding and removed a portion of her skull that couldn’t be replaced due to the swelling of her brain in the process. We were informed today that her skull cannot be replaced for a few months during which time she will have to wear a helmet to protect her brain and go through rehabilitation to regain the full function of her brain. My mother is the oldest of my grandmothers eight children and my aunt Shanna is the youngest. She is more than a aunt to me and my sisters, she was raised by my mother in the same household as us all of our lives. I cry as I write this because I am still in disbelief that this is even reality right now. Shanna is a strong woman and by the grace of God the results of her cat scan show no permanent brain damage but she still has a long road ahead of her before she fully recovers. Shanna works as a PCA and she is a single mother who like many other people in the world live paycheck to paycheck so we are asking for help to keep her and Brianna’s home and for any other expenses that may occur during her time of healing. As of right now, Brianna does not know the extent of what has happened to her mom and we are trying to keep things as normal as possible for her and with the holidays nearing we don’t even know how to break the news to her but the last thing we want is for Brianna and her mom to have to go through this ordeal and end up losing their home and what sense of normalcy they had in their lives before this unexpected tragedy. Anything you can give will be greatly appreciated and even if not a monetary donation we are asking for prayers from all in our time of need. Thank you for taking the time out to read on Shanna and Brianna’s story. https://www.facebook.com/shaneik.watson/posts/10156114225392342

I registered as a kidney donor for Mohamad Kerkmaz. Through henry ford system. Everything was going great, we went through all testing and were ready to give him my kidney to save his life to buy him time with his family that are like my family. As of just yesterday i found out that he as stage 4 liver cancer and it's spreading really quick. My heart was broken and his family are devstated . I just want to help them in any way, I feel bad that I couldn't save him. What his daughter had to say - aThe beautiful smile in the picture above is my fathers, mohamad kerkmaz. The greatest father, husband, and grandpa. My best friend. The reason behind most of my laughs and sometimes tears. If anyone knows us enough they know he is my right hand, the perfect duo. I don’t know what my life would be without him. Yesterday was My nephews first birthday and as we were all excited and getting the party ready my father was on his way to pick up the cake as he received a call from his doctors only to find out he has stage 4 liver cancer. He didn’t tell us until it was all over so he wouldn’t affect the birthday. He’s a fighter with diabetes, high blood pressure, a abnormal heart, and failed kidneys doing dialysis 3 days a week. Yet he still manages to do all he possibly can for his loved ones and I admire him soo much for that. Prior to this news my father was in the process of receiving a kidney transplant with the hopes of having some time added to his life. Unfortunately we’ve come across a huge bump in the road after his last step to getting it ended up in hearing the worst news of our lives. I just want him to get the best possible treatment he can get. We know he doesn’t have much time left. It would just help soo much more if we just knew we’ve done everything we could to beat this. We don’t have much at all but we have each other and that is enough. I ask of you to please help in anyway you can. Every prayer counts ❤️
