On Sunday, February 3, Matthew Silber passed away unexpectedly. He was only 41. We don’t know why he was taken from us, but what we do know is that Matthew was a kind and gentle soul, but also a fighter.
Matthew’s wife Dawn describes him as a “tireless defender of truth,” and that he was. He was blessed with artistic talent and used his skills as a graphic designer to support and promote things with which he had a heart: Southern history, Confederate veterans, liberty, state’s rights, and tradition. Matthew was live and let live, but understood that the values he had ran countercurrent to our upside-down world. So this mild-mannered Missouri gentleman fought. And fought hard.
You might know Matthew by his alias Lewis Liberman. He and Dawn operated the website Libertopia , where “Lewis” tirelessly created graphics, videos, memes, and blogs for freedom and against tyranny.
Matthew’s fingerprints can be seen everywhere from the Abbeville Institute , the 10th Amendment Center ,Brion McClanahan , the Sons of Confederate Veterans Hughes Camp , and Shotwell Publishing . These were freelance gigs to which he was committed because he believed firmly in each and every cause. And in all his extremely limited spare time, Matthew even led a music ministry at an assisted living center near his hometown. That’s just the kind of guy he was.
But even more importantly, Matthew was a devoted follower of Christ, a husband, and a father. He was best friend to Dawn, and the breadwinner for his family, working a 9-to-5 job to provide her the opportunity to be a stay-at-home mom and homeschool their 14-year-old son, Josiah. He and Josiah loved spending time together, like participating together in Civil War reenactments and going outdoor adventures. Dawn said it was impossible to find a photo of Matthew alone, as all of her pictures are father-son shots.
We are asking that you make a generous donation toward funeral costs, as well as any other expenses Dawn and Josiah may need in the near future.
The Silber family is at a loss, and this is when we can be the hands and feet of Jesus.
Let’s honor the humble and brave work of a life lost too young. Let’s help out this wonderful family tragically left behind. Let’s give them beauty for ashes.
