In late October of 2017, Matthew Simpson, cherished son of Stefanie Campopiano and David Simpson, was diagnosed with Stage 4 CIC-DUX4 Sarcoma, an extremely rare, very aggressive cancer. There have only been about 115 cases of this type of cancer that have been diagnosed in the entire world. There is no cure for this form of cancer and there is no funding that has been set aside for research. Matt underwent seven months of grueling chemotherapy and radiation treatments that were, ultimately, unsuccessful in combating this beast that has taken over his body.
Matt grew up in Rhode Island with his brother, David, and sister, Tayla. He moved to Maine to attend high school and live with his father. He turned 18 in February and on June 10th, Matt graduated from Dexter Regional High School with the rest of his class! Matt loves football and has been playing since he was 6 years old. He has an infectious smile and laugh. He loves BMX and ATVs and being outdoors. He is dearly loved by his family and countless friends.
Stefanie and David are now faced with the devastating task of planning his funeral and burial. These expenses can be overwhelming to anyone, not to mention, when it is, unexpectedly, your own child. Your help is requested to be able to provide a most fitting funeral for such an amazing young man. Anything you can give will be greatly appreciated and will go toward celebrating the remarkable life of Matthew!
