Master's at the College-Conservatory of Music

Donation protected
Dear friends and family, I am embarking on another journey to advance my education and further develop skills necessary to have a successful and impactful career. I have completed my bachelor's degree at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and will continue my education at the College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) at the University of Cincinnati! I am exceptionally excited about this opportunity to pursue my Master's degree at CCM. I am confident that CCM will provide life-changing experience and foster my development as an artist, performer, professional, and person.

During my studies at CCM, I will collaborate with some of the industry's most talented up-and-coming young musicians and world class performers. I will also study under the tutelage of internationally renowned musicians and pedagogues including members of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, The Ariel String Quartet, and my private teacher, Catherine Carroll Lees.

Pursuing an education is essential for developing the skills necessary to achieve my goals of becoming an influential professional musician. However, it is a financial burden to a financially independent student especially in the first initial months. Therefore, I am asking for your generous donations to help assist with expenses associated with moving and starting a new degree at an entirely new university.

Your contributions will assist with:
Moving vehicle rental
Housing - Rent/security deposit
Food and groceries
Textbooks and supplies

I understand that this is a lot to ask for. However, know that your contributions are investments not only in my education and career, but they are investments in the communities in which I promise to serve with the knowledge and experience I will obtain from this institution. For those of you who may not know who I am or what I do, here is a brief bio of what I've been up to recently. Thank you for your time!

Julius Adams obtained his Bachelor’s degree in viola performance at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he studied with Elizabeth Freivogel, violist of the Jupiter String Quartet. As an orchestral musician, Julius has served as principal violist of the University of Illinois Symphony Orchestra for three years. In 2017, he served as principal violist of the Prague Summer Nights Festival Orchestra and the Marrowstone Music Festival’s Chamber Orchestra. Julius is a member of the Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra and Millikin-Decatur Symphony Orchestra. He also performs with the Quad City Symphony, Heartland Festival Orchestra, and Sinfonia da Camera. He has performed at venues across the United States, Europe, and China including Carnegie Hall (New York City), Orchestra Hall (Chicago), The Rudolfinum (Prague), Mozarteum Großer Saal (Salzburg), The National Centre for the Performing Arts (Beijing), and the Oriental Arts Centre (Shanghai).

Throughout 2017-19, Julius toured the United States with viola professor, Rudolf Haken, and the #WithIllinois fundraising campaign where he performed a hip-hop duo rendition of Paganini’s 24th caprice on an electric 5-string viola. Julius also enjoys performing new music by contemporary composers in solo, orchestral, and chamber music settings. He was a young artist and a member of the inaugural string quartet at the Ad Astra Music Festival in Kansas where he performed chamber and choral music by contemporary and Baroque composers. He was also a guest artist for the University of Illinois' Black Chorus Black Sacred Music Symposium.

Julius’ most recent musical endeavour occurred in August 2018 where he began his studies in orchestral conducting at the International Conducting Festival and Workshop in Lviv, Ukraine under the tutelage of world renowned conducting pedagogues, Donald Schleicher and Larry Rachleff.
