Mason Wasz' Emergency Expense Fund

Donation protected
On January 28, little Mason Wasz was air lifted to Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago.  Melissa and Mike are asking their family and friends for their love, prayers, and positive mojo, which I am certain we are all doing!  However, the reality is, this is a huge financial impact to their family, and something they shouldn’t have to worry about as their son fights for his life.

Mason had been at the pediatrician three times in the last 2 days with a cough, and then the ER on Friday night for fluids.  They were told it was viral and would have to run its course.  Saturday afternoon, Mason was lethargic and Mike called an ambulance.  Mason was unresponsive with a faint heartbeat and shallow breathing, and Mike gave him CPR with the guidance of dispatch.  The ambulance took him to the hospital in Huntley, where he was stabilized and then Flight for Life airlifted him to Chicago.

Melissa and Mike don’t have many answers yet, but Mason’s body is responding to meds and treatment, and they continue to run tests.  They are waiting for Mason to be stable enough to run a CT scan, to check for brain activity.  It is still unknown how long he was without oxygen.  He is breathing with help and is being sedated to let his little body rest.

Melissa and Mike have been told that Mason will be at Lurie’s for at least a week, if not more.  They are unsure what the future holds for Mason, and they have been told to be prepared for a long road ahead.

The Wasz family are simply wonderful!  Many may know Mike as the mailman for downtown Crystal Lake, or perhaps Melissa has taught your son or daughter how to skate at the Crystal Ice House?  John and I would like to help ease their financial burden a bit, so that they can concentrate on getting Mason better.  We are asking for your help too.  Please consider donating, and of course, please keep this little boy in your thoughts and prayers!!
