Marty's Urethrostomy Surgery

Donation protected
I'm making this GoFundMe for my good friend Tim's tan chihuahua, Marty.

Tim and his wife adopted Marty about 4 years ago when they were living in Seoul. They were looking at an English adoption webpage and noticed Marty's profile was the longest listed out of all the other dogs. Most were up for a few months at most, and Marty's was up for about 1.5 years.

The foster parent told them that Marty had multiple potential owners, but they always had changed their minds because of his peculiar personality. Marty was more withdrawn and not very sociable but was still a very lovable dog. After adopting Marty, Tim and his wife bonded and fell in love with him over the years.

A few nights ago, Tim noticed Marty constantly straining to pee for hours during the early morning. After a vet visit, it was confirmed that Marty has a bladder stone in a very difficult to reach spot, just before the penile bone. It doesn't show up on x-rays, so it is a very risky surgery only urethra surgeons are willing to perform. Normally, stones are flushed into the bladder and then surgically removed from there, but in Marty's case the stone needs to be extracted by dissecting the urethra. Tim and his wife have made multiple calls around the North VA, Maryland and Delaware area to clinics willing to perform the surgery and the prices range from $3000-$5000.

Luckily, the primary vet had chipped some grit off the stone when probing with a catheter, allowing Marty to urinate for the time being. However, Marty is currently on antibiotics, painkillers for inflammation, and an urethra dilation medicine. He is in a sort of purgatory right now, as the urine stream has has a good chance to re-lodge the stone, blocking his urine and inevitably rupturing his bladder.

This fund will go towards Marty's surgery and give him the rest of his life to spend many more happy years with Tim and his wife. I know from experience how heartbreaking it is to lose a pet, and want to help Tim out as much as I can since the surgery is very expensive.

If 100 people chipped in $30 we would be done! Please give anything you can spare, Tim, Marty and I would appreciate it so much. Thank you all so much for reading. If you cannot donate, please consider sharing this to help spread the word.
