Martin Salois a 48 ans et est pompier depuis 21 ans dont 15 à Montréal. Il est non fumeur. Le 17 novembre il a été diagnostiqué d'un cancer du poumon grade 4 (très agressif). Une mauvaise nouvelle n'attend pas l'autre. Il a également des métastases au cerveau, au ganglions du cou et dans l'abdomen. Martin à un garçon de 8 ans et est marié. Les médecins au Québec ne peuvent plus rien pour lui et ses jours son maintenant comptés.
Il existe un traitement possible en Allemagne pour rallonger son espérance de vie. Il s'agit de chimio-embolisation qui permettrais de réduire les tumeurs. Chaque traitement peut coûter jusqu'a 25 000$.
C'est maintenant scientifiquement et juridiquement reconnu que le cancer du poumon est relié au métier de pompier.

Martin is only 48 years old.
Firefighting has been his life for 21 years and the past 15 of those years, he has been a career firefighter with the city of Montreal fire department assigned to fire station 66 in the borough of Verdun. He is a non-smoker. Martin is also married and the father of an 8 year old boy.
This past November 17th, Martin was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. As if that wasn’t enough, it appears cancer has now possibly spread to his brain, lymph nodes, neck and abdomen. Medicine here in the province of Québec has its limitations, and his days now seem numbered. Numerous studies demonstrate that firefighters are at significant risk of lung cancer because of the various toxins that we are exposed to on a daily basis.
A treatment is, however, available in Germany, that may prolong his life. Chemoembolization may give him more time with his loved ones. Each treatment can cost up to 25 000$
