Marlie & Perry Ford's Medical Fund

Imagine both of your only children in the Trauma Unit at Vanderbilt Medical Center and then receiving a call stating that your health insurance may have lapsed due to a missing form....... Marlie & Perry are brother and sister and the only children of Marshall and Julie Ford of Greenbrier, TN and this is exactly what happened to this awesome family.  Marlie and Perry, along with two other dear friends, were involved in a head on collision at no fault of their own on Saturday, July 28, 2018.  A man with a history of driving under the influence and driving on a revoked drivers license decided to get behind the wheel yet again while intoxicated. Now imagine this.... you're pinned in the backseat with a compound fracture in your leg and cannot move, you are the only conscious person in the car and you've just watched your sister hit her precious head with such force to cause her a seizure right there in front of your eyes and you are completely helpless to do anything.  Luckily with God's help, all of the victims survived the accident but they have a long way to go.  Marlie was sent by Life Flight and has a traumatic brain injury.  She remains in the Trauma Unit at Vanderbilt and has multiple fractures in her neck, face, leg and pelvis.  Surgery is not possible until the pressure in her brain has stabilized.  Her head has now been shaved in order to make way for the hole that has been drilled to monitor her intracranial pressure caused by a subdural hematoma that runs from the right side of her head all the way to the back of her head. Perry has had surgery now and is improving.  He will be moved to inpatient therapy within the coming days and is currently recovering in the Critical Care Unit at Vanderbilt.  We are praying that he will one day get the nightmarish scene played out in front of him out of his mind.  He has witnessed more devastation than anyone deserves to see. Marlie and Perry's parents are dear friends and their family is greatly loved by anyone and everyone who is lucky enough to have the pleasure of knowing them. We anticipate the cost of the Life Flight ride alone to approach $100,000.00.  This is in addition to the wonderful care they are receiving by the talented doctors, nurses and staff at Vandy.  We're hoping to offset some of the medical costs or at least provide a cushion while neither are able to work due to the constant need of their presence for both of their children.
