Early Sunday morning while driving home from work - Mark Poss pulled his car over on 15th street exit in Sacramento to assist a disabled motorist.

Mark and the disabled motorist were both pushing his car out of the roadway and a drunk driver crashed into them from behind - immediately severing his legs.

Mark was rushed to UCD Medical Center in Sacramento and they saved his life with emergency surgery (and the tourniquet the CHP applied at the scene).

Mark is in the ICU for the next week, followed by 2-3 weeks of hospital stay, and months at an in-patient rehabilitation facility.

Mark and Sarah have a young son and the funds will be used to support his family and the mounting medical bills.

Please help us support Mark and his family.  His selfless act of kindness in the middle of the night has changed his life forever.

In the season of giving - the Poss family would like to thank everyone who has helped support their healing process.

Mark is doing 'pretty good' (in his own words). He is preparing for another surgery in January to skin graft the extensive wound on his right leg. This will make it #POSSible for Mark to have prosthetics, by creating a smooth surface on his leg, after two months of healing time.

A special thank you to the Oakland A's and the Sacramento Kings - two of Mark's favorite sports teams - for extending their generosity with some really cool gear.

We are still selling the #POSSible tee-shirts and hoodies with all proceeds being donated to the Poss Family.

Please continue to share! Still trying to achieve the goal...

Mark is home! Amazing. He is comfortable and starting the recovery process.

We need the help of this community. Does anyone know Hugh Herr? He heads the Biomechatronics group at the MIT Media Lab and is creating bionic limbs that emulate the function of natural limbs.

We are looking to make a connection with Hugh or others in the industry to see if Mark could be a candidate for bionic limbs. Mark is a remarkable person with the positive attitude that will support R&D on bionics.

Please help us! Send me a message.

Happy Thanksgiving. So much to be grateful for.

A team of us have been working on a 'Kindness is #POSSible' campaign. We have a marketplace on Facebook to spread the kindness that signifies Mark Poss' spirit: #POSSible.

This is all being done in the spirit of kindness and giving thanks for life.

The vision is to buy & wear the shirt/hoodie and take selfies/photos and post them to the Facebook & Instagram with examples of kind acts, encouraging photos/words and thoughts for Mark and family as he embarks on his road to recovery. All proceeds are being donated to the Poss Family.

If interested - here is a link to the marketplace for shipping delivery of the shirts (from Ruben Martinez):

Thank you all for the tremendous support!

Mark had another surgery on Friday which went well. Unfortunately, they were not able to save his left knee and had to perform a through the knee amputation. The physicians still believe he is a good candidate for prosthetics.

Mark is doing well. Sitting up in his wheelchair - always with a smile on his face.

A supporter so eloquently wrote this comment and it is worth sharing with the community...

"We know not the mind of God. But for everyday, reluctant heroes....the everyman who heeds the call to help another in need...all that is civil and kind in this world would die. I WISH i had a million dollars to donate to this good man, this good family. I pray God will and reward upon them. This did not happen as a punishment....there will be something more."

Bless you all - and thank you for your support of Mark & Family.
