Mark Uptain passed away in a tragic hunting accident on September 14th.  He was doing one of activities he had extreme passion for. An experienced hunting guide in the backcountry of Wyoming.  While preparing to pack a Elk out, Mark was attacked by a Bear and sadly did not make it. Even more then the outdoors Mark loved his beautiful wife Sarah and their 5 amazing kids.   Please give what you can or share to help this family in their time of need.  I have been best friends with Sarah since the 2nd grade, we have done a lot of life together. I know I can’t take away the pain, but if we can help support Sarah to be able to focus on the kids and not worry about finances.   Thank you all. Thank you to Sarah’s siblings Joe & Hannah for the go ahead with this GFM page.

Beautiful tribute from Mark’s brother in law. Too amazing not to share!

“Well, there are some things a man can’t run away from”~~John Wayne

We buried Mark Uptain, my brother in law, yesterday. He died from wounds he sustained while saving a man’s life during a grizzly bear attack. He had a chance to save himself after being attacked first and surviving that attack, but the bear went after the hunter, so Mark re engaged the bear...According to the deputy sheriff we talked to, Mark went Mike Tyson on that bear, standing toe to toe and fighting a sow grizzly with a yearling cub with her...There have been questions of why wasn’t there a gun, there was, the clip was dropped out of the gun before it was tossed in Marks direction and a round had never been chambered. What about bear spray? That was used also, an entire can was empty...It just wasn’t enough...I believe Mark died where he wanted to, sooner than he wanted to. He was an amazing father, he was a Christian, he loved his family, he loved the truth, and he died a hero.
‘Greater love has no one than this, than one lay down his life for his friends’ John 15:13

I’m sorry I didn’t know you as well as some others in your life, but I feel like I’ve known you my whole life and I hope that I can take this tragedy and turn it into something positive.

‘Every man dies, but not every man really lives’~~William Wallace

You really lived really lived...Until we meet again...RIP

What amazing people from all around the nation. Coming together to support a family in need. I personally am overwhelmed and humbled by all the ❤️ of man kind. The whole Uptain & Bond family are so grateful for the support of Sarah and the kids. Because of the level of response, interest and support and knowing that the cost of raising 5 children is large. I have raised the goal from 150,000 to 200,000. In hopes of giving Sarah as much time at home with the kids. To grieve, and figure out a new life. Nothing will bring Mark back, but as a broken hearted friend, sister, wife, mother, country girl.....I am going to keep the fund going and do as much as I can. God bless and thank you all!

Services will be Sept 19th at 11 am at the First Baptist Church in Jackson Hole Wyoming. Thank you for all the prayers, kindness and donations. Not that anything can ever replace Mark, but the generosity is going to help Sarah & her kids have one less thing to worry about.
