Margaret Kemp Memorial

Everyone that lived in Belchertown knew Margaret, but none of us really knew her. She has been a fixture for as long as I can remember.
There was not a day that went by that you didn't see her about town pushing her cart with her cat Stormy Pumpkin in it.
Stormy Pumpkin was her life.
She had no one in her life that championed more for her than my co-worker Diane Morgan. Margaret called and send her letters daily. She was her closest ally, but for those of us that knew Margaret you also know that she would only take help when she saw fit. It was hard to convience her otherwise.
This fund is being set up so we can give Margaret a proper buriel and memorial. She deserves that.
My connection? I the program and volunteer coordinator at the Belchertown Coucil on Aging and we all wanted to do something in her rememberance.
Margaret has no local biological family but was known by everyone. If this fund wasn't being collected she would have had no headstone or permanent grave. The money raised will also pay for her cremation and for a bench in her honor on the common where the community can continue to never forget. We will also be having a community memorial that will be held on the common in November. For those of you that do not want to use the Go Fund Me we have an account set up at the Easthampton Savings bank. The account will allow me to write checks out to Beers and Story funeral home, to the Town of Belchertown for one of the memorial benches and for the plot at the cemetery and to the business that we will be purchasing her memorial headstone. Let them know that it is for the Margaret Kemp memorial fund. I needed to have my name on the account for check writing purposes.
