Marcy Young

Our dear friend and colleague here at Blueprint Modern Hair,  Marcy Young, is the bravest, strongest and sweetest person we know! About 10 years ago while she was pregnant with her son, Bishop, she was diagnosed with Synovial Chondromatosis. She had benign tumors growing in her right knee joint. This caused severe damage, extreme pain and eventually affected her mobility. 

In the last 10 years Marcy has undergone 11 surgeries (the first while pregnant with Bishop) including tumor removal, a knee replacement that lasted 2 1/2 years but her bone started to degrade so much the metal wouldn't hold, eventually this led to an amputation of her right leg above the knee.  For the last 2 years she has been able to work part time and get used to her new normal with a prosthetic leg. It has been quite an adjustment and Marcy was still living with significant pain. She recently found out why.  Her doctors felt it was in her best interest to have a revision of her amputated limb. At the end of November  Marcy had her 12th surgery! The surgeons removed 3 bones spurs, excess tissue and muscle and addressed a golf ball sized neuroma on the end of her sciatic nerve. Its no wonder she was in so much pain!

She is home from OHSU and recovering with her mom, husband and son's help.  Marcy will be out of the salon for at least 4 months to heal. A medical issue like this can be a serious financial burden on a family.  We are reaching out to all of you so we can help ease some of the stress during this tough time for Marcy and her family.
