It was a roller coaster of a week for Marcus Thornhill, family, and friends.   On July 3rd Marcus got a CT scan and MRI on his brain to determine if something was causing his shaking, lack of eye movement, and tiredness.  Originally it showed nothing, but the Doctors called back to notify that there was a lesion found in the brain.  Shortly after, he had to get emergency surgery to put a shunt to relieve the pressure on his brain and also conduct the biopsy.  Then they received a call that was not good news, which is that the lesion is a high grade 3 aggressive cancerous tumor that is inoperable.

The next steps are to attack this tumor with radiation and chemotherapy over the several weeks ahead.  Marcus had a birthday recently and now has a long road ahead, but one that we know GOD will deliver the strength to FIGHT this tumor and HEAL him.

During this fight, the family will have to endure a lot of medical expenses/travel costs to and from the hospital/food costs of eating out/lack of income from work/and giving Marcus the items he will need to keep a SMILE on his face throughout the process.   We have received tremendous support throughout this process and many people have been asking what you can do to help, please consider helping our family during this FIGHT against CANCER.

God Bless and THANK YOU ALL!

Thank you all for your support so far! It has been amazing to see what can be done when people come together to fight for a cause. Update on Marcus and family. Marcus had his 6th birthday on July 27th. The morning was spent receiving his second dose of radiation. The staff at the hopital surprised Marcus with a song a cupcakes when he woke up from anesthesia.

Overall the Thornhill family is doing well. Adjusting to the new schedule will be demanding, as Katie has stopped working to take Marcus to his treatments Monday through Friday. It looks like treatment will go on for 6 weeks or so, then a little break before full chemotherapy.

Marcus remains in good spirits overall, however he does ask why he has to "go to the doctors" while other kids don't. Other than this he is happy watching TV, playing video games, and making fart jokes.

The Thornhill family wants everyone to know how thankful they are for the support. Funds raised will be going directly to medical care, and support for the family during this time. Any additional funds beyond what is needed will be paid forward to others in need as God directs in His timing.

Please keep anchoring in! This will be a LONG process and they need people in prayer and support for the entire journey.

To the MANY people that have supported #MarcusStrong with monetary donations, prayers, thoughts, posts, texts, calls, and more we just wanted to sincerely THANK YOU & say WE LOVE YOU!

Your continued support is going to be instrumental as Marcus goes to the Doctors on Tuesday and Thursday this week. He will have to get sedated to get the MRI (see if the cancer has spread into spine) along with getting the chemo port put in.

His actual birthday is Thursday, July 26th, but we celebrated it on Saturday, July 14th before he starts radiation and chemo. He had an absolute blast on his birthday with many smiles with his family and friends as he opened many gifts that included black panther toys & fat head, play-doh, clay, cards, clothes (these were tossed quickly over his head!), and ended with some FIREWORKS....it put a BIG SMILE on his face.

Please continue to think about Marcus during this week as we remain steadfast in our faith and praying for some good news. He is undoubtedly strengthened by all YOUR support!

WE LOVE YOU ALL!
