Where are we from?
We are students, families, and community members from Corvallis, Oregon, and the surrounding areas.
How we plan to use the funds?
We will be using funds raised to cover the costs of applicable permits and insurance (as required by the city and parks/recs department), signs materials, event day rentals, and march-related costs incurred. Funds will be disbursed as expenses are incurred and a final statement will be made public at the conclusion of the event, providing a total amount for donations received and expenses paid. Any remaining funds will be donated to a local charity (to be announced).
Our mission:
March For Our Lives is a national demonstration created and inspired by the survivors of the horrific February 14th shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School (Parkland, Florida), who have emerged as a national voice for reform and action. Florida students will be marching in Washington, DC, on March 24th, with students around the nation forming sister marches in their own communities to support the national event, voicing their concerns for school safety in light of gun violence.
With this sentiment in mind, local Corvallis students have taken the lead to organize a sister march in downtown Corvallis, to be held on Saturday, March 24th, at 10:30am. It is the hope of Corvallis students that the march creates awareness and emphasizes the importance of empowering this newest generation to demand that their safety on school grounds become a priority.
Thank you for considering donating to March For Our Lives - Corvallis, and thank you, too, for your support in preventing gun violence and ensuring the safety of everyone (students, teachers, administrators, support staff, and volunteers) in our local schools.
Planning is in the early stages, so please check back regularly for updates.
