Throughout history, science has made our world a better place. From lightbulbs and electricity, to antibiotics and a cure for polio, to cell phones and GPS, science has advanced our quality of life in many ways.
In the Huntsville metro area, science happens all around us. NASA, Redstone Arsenal, Research Park, our colleges and universities – the economy of our area is driven by science.
Recently, there has been an alarming trend toward discrediting scientific consensus and restricting scientific discovery. New policies threaten to further restrict scientists’ ability to research and communicate their findings. Funding of public science is at risk. We face a possible future where people not only ignore scientific evidence, but seek to eliminate it entirely. Staying silent is a luxury that we can no longer afford. We must stand together and support science.
On April 22, 2017, we invite you to join us in a nationwide and unprecedented gathering of people standing together to acknowledge and voice the critical role that science plays in each of our lives.
This fund will support the organization and execution of the "March for Science," in Huntsville - a sister to the national march in Washington - to take place on April 22nd. Funds will be used for promotional materials, advertising, A/V equipment, and other march-related expenses. Any money raised in excess of our need to make this march as impactful as possible will be donated to a non-profit for the advancement of science and science education.
