March for Trump's Taxes - Denver
President Donald Trump's team has gone back and forth over whether or not they will be releasing his taxes, and no date has been set in the event that they are.
We have one demand: President Donald Trump will release his tax returns by April 15th, 2017.
Current agenda EDITED:
1) Apply for a public assembly permit following the same route as the Women's March in Denver (any and all help is welcome here, we have to apply 60 days prior to the event) (Cost $150)
2) Reach out to potential speakers (again, all suggestions are welcome)
3) Create a secondary list of demands for Trump (divest his interests, create transparency, etc.)
We are a group of volunteers from the Denver area putting this event together. We are raising money to cover the cost of organizing the event, particularly to cover the cost of insurance, etc. When we withdraw money, it will first be used to pay fees (such as for electricity) and if any money is leftover, we will donate it to a cause.
FUNDS WILL BE USED to cover the cost of the city permit, insurance, port-o-potties, tent fees, electricity, police assistance, sound equipment and any other unexpected costs.
Those responsible for the funds are Samantha Montgomery and Sara Walsh.
Donations are welcome until the event date on April 15th.
Any money leftover once all vendors have been paid will be donated to charity. At this time we have not determined which charities, but the list will include Planned Parenthood.

This left in excess of $4,000. As we hope you're aware, we've also been supporting a ballot initiative that will mandate statewide candidates for office in Colorado release five years of tax returns before they are allowed to be placed on the ballot. This money will go towards that. With your help, we'll fix this issue!
The costs associated with the initiative process are real and substantial. You've given us a great start towards getting there, and with your continued support-as volunteers or through future donations-we'll get this done! For a glimpse at the expenses we're talking about, the initiative process requires roughly 150,000 petition signatures to account for margin of error. That requires 5,000 petitions from a printing press cleared with the Secretary of State. We plan on buying the petitions in batches, but the cost for all 5,000 has been quoted at $4,000. We'll also need hard materials like clipboards, pens, and volunteer badges for all petition circulators. There are other components as well. Follow and/or support these efforts at Strengthening Democracy Colorado's website or Facebook page:
First of all--OMG, wow! In under 24 hours we've raised almost $3000.
Thank you for your $5 donations. Thank you for your $100+ donations. And thank you for everything in between, above and below.
Hey gals and guys, I'll be there (as I was at the Women's March and will be at the Planned Parenthood gathering). Listen, I was thinking about something that might be beneficial if you have the funds. For decades now the GOP has appropriated the American flag as a condescending cudgel against progressives, meant to shame them as less patriotic than their masses. I'm sick of this. I, like every single friend I have, love the American flag as a symbol of freedom, constitutionality and a welcoming nation for asylum seekers, immigrants and refugees. I say we take it back. How wonderful would it be to see that flag waving across the Civic Center as we call for Trump to release his taxes and disentangle his grafting secrecy, not only for our souls, but for optics. It is time for progressives to reappropriate the flag. I would be willing to start a Kickstarter to buy these flags if current funding is unavailable. Just a dozen large flags and a fleet of smaller ones would suffice. Anyway, give it a thought. The hijacking of our flag for partisan means has irritated to me for years. Now, I am infuriated and clamoring to take it back. Give me an IM if you think it's a good idea.
Pay money for women to murder children? Don't their pimps pay for that?
When and where the march and what time?
A condescending cudgel? Is that code for "treating with respect"? That fact is that when people of your ilk get together for a rally, you usually end up burning the flag. You don't get to burn the flag and claim to be patriotic. It doesn't work that way, Dave. Sorry. BTW, there is no law that requires anyone to release their taxes. Also, the progressive ideology professes that the US Constitution is antiquated, obsolete document that was useful when America was an agrarian society, but has since outlived it usefulness in the post industrial era. I recommend you do a little research on the Progressive movement, which originated in Germany in the late 19th century. Time to do your research, Dave. And BTW, what were you doing at the women's march, hoping to score?
I like the idea of taking back the American Flag!
