Marcellus Toney was killed in Oakland, California on September 27th, 2017, after being tased by Oakland police. His wife, LaMesha Smith, has struggled to understand how her husband was violently killed, how to obtain justice, and how to grieve his loss for the past year.
LaMesha is still heartbroken and the Oakland Police have changed their story multiple times. They have not allowed her current lawyers to view the video from that day. There has been no coherent narrative to explain why her husband lost his life. They have shifted the blame back to this unarmed black man, who feared that he was going to be killed by police. He was in shock and traumatized at the time of the incident, and instead of offering understanding and safety, they tased him until he died.
Lamesha has struggled financially since losing her husband. Her greatest wish is to bring some justice for Marcellus. She needs to raise $2000.00 to pay her lawyers so that they can file before October 16th.
