Walking a marathon for Clare

In March 2016, I started a 'life list ' of activities and experiences to try. One of them was to walk a marathon.
One of my greatest supporters in this aim was my dear friend and colleague, Clare Parrack. She joined me on one especially fabulous walk in May 2016 - 12 miles through the Wiltshire countryside with our friends from Mother Nature's Diet. That was the last time I was to see her alive.
In October 2016, I was devastated to learn that Clare had terminal cancer. She hoped to have "up to a year" to enjoy more experiences; in the end, she had just two months. She died on 30 December, and had spent those two months being as positive, sunny and forward-thinking as ever.
She asked that her legacy be a 'living' one, and so Clare's Legacy Fund was born. It's aimed at helping people at a crossroads in their life to gain clarity and direction, as Clare herself did when she reinvented herself (from journalist to professional organiser and interior designer) seven years earlier. Funds raised through my marathon walk will be donated to Clare's Legacy Fund, joining money donated in her memory at her original GoFundMe page here .
My walk will take place on Saturday 3 June, covering part of The Ridgeway, from Wendover to Wallingford. I will be joined by friends, including several from the Mother Nature's Diet group. Our leader and mentor will be the magnificent Karl Whitfield, founder of that group, to whom I owe an enormous debt.
If people are happy to donate in acknowledgement of my efforts in training and effort to achieve this goal, I am flattered and humbled. If they donate in memory of Clare and so that her generous vision can be realised, I will be thrilled.
