Back story below:

We have decided to run the Rwamagana Marathon in Rwanda on 17th February 2019.  Neither of us have attempted a marathon before, so we have been training hard and with only 3 days to go, we would really appreciate your support!

We are leaving our loved ones and flying to East Africa in time to wake up uncharacteristically early on the Sunday and run our socks off…
It is a tricky course, boasting hills, high altitude and heat… (we learned after we signed up that Rwanda is otherwise known as “The Land of a Thousand Hills”)   We are ready for the challenge and to support our wonderful charity of choice: Msaada.

Msaada assists the people of Rwanda to restore their dignity and their livelihoods that were destroyed during the horrific genocide in 1994 by establishing self-help income-generating projects.

Msaada has been selected as the most effective International Non-Governmental Organisation (INGO) in Rwamagana District, for the second year in a row – a unique achievement for any INGO in Rwanda to date.

Thank you for your support!  Every penny really does help…

Jacqui Ritchie & Bobby Rich

Team Furaha (“Joy” in Swahili)

Msaada’s main activities at present are:
·     A dairy project, using high-yielding European Freisan-Holstein cows, that enables widows and orphans of the genocide to become self sufficient.
·     An education project supporting the 2,000-student Scolaire Rwamagana A pre-school, primary and secondary schools to improve the fabric of the school and to provide a high quality technological capacity to allow students to compete in a modern world.
Msaada supports profit-making projects in Rwanda, run by the Rwandans themselves, that fund a range of physical and psychological care and legal advice to widows and orphans still suffering from injustice and trauma after the dreadful events of 1994.
Msaada involves the people themselves in solving their own problems and is guided by their capacity, skills, experience and vision.
Msaada enables families to make their own decisions on rebuilding their lives and in their fight for justice and against crushing poverty.

How it Works
  1. You are donating to PayPal Giving Fund UK, a registered charity (No. 1110538), which will email you a receipt for your donation and claim Gift Aid where eligible.
  2. GoFundMe’s platform is free. The charity will typically receive the funds from PayPal Giving Fund within 15-45 days of your donation if the charity has enrolled (or 90 days if the charity has not yet enrolled). Unlike other platforms, 100% of any Gift Aid will go to the charity as well.
* In very limited cases, a recommended charity may cease to meet PayPal Giving Fund's legal or other eligibility requirements. In such cases, PayPal Giving Fund will reassign the funds to a similar charity, and (wherever possible) seek a new recommendation from donors.
