Mannin Family

$29,062 of $50,000 goal

Raised by 360 people in 10 months
On January 17th, 2018 my sister and her two sons were on their way home from school and stopped behind a school bus when they were rear ended by a truck. Her oldest son Dominic passed away instantly, we were blessed with 9 years of his life. Her younger son Asher is only 4 and was flown out to Denver. He's already had surgery to repair his two broken femurs and will undergo another surgery for a tear on his liver.
Angelica is currently in the ICU. She has brain bruising and swelling. The risk at the moment is that the pressure will increase in her brain. A pressure monitor has been put in already and they are monitoring her closely. We're all praying for a miracle for her to make it through. Even then she will have to hear the horrible news that her oldest son is with Jesus. The medical bills alone are too much for their family to handle and now they will have to plan a funeral for their sweet boy. Please help. Pray. They have so much tragedy already, show the love and support of community and family.

A lot of improvement for Angelica's progress but I'll start with Asher, physically he's great he can actually walk right now but with a lot of pain. He should be out of the wheelchair in a week. Once they take out the rods (a surgically simple process) he will be physically uneffected. Emotionally he is laughing more every day but occasionally is still affected by the accident.
Angelica is improving rapidly. She is completely off the respirator, no longer needs lung support, and only has a feeding tube at this point. She opens her eyes, makes jokes, laughs and recognizes family. She has post traumatic amnesia (normal for brain injuries) in which she is still often confused, needs to be reminded of events, and is in and out of consciousness but we know she is listening and comprehending what is going on around her even when she doesn't seem "awake". She recalls memories and events from before the accident and remembers things we have talked about not even directed specifically to her.
GREAT NEWS! She will be moved to one of the best PT brain and spine rehab centers in the country later this week! This is amazing news for us because our family will be very present for all steps of rehab and will be trained on how to support her continuing rehab in addition to the amazing physical, psychological and emotional support she will receive there.
We thank God for our answered prayers and are so blessed to have such amazing family and community support ❤ Thank you so much, we could never express our gratitude for the love and support you have shown the Mannin family.

UPDATE: Asher is doing great. He had surgeries for his two broken femurs yesterday and it went great. He has two pins in his legs and will be walking within a month!
Angelica is making minor (major to us) improvements. She is localizing to pain, moving her arms and legs, and playing (rotating, squeezing, rolling) a rolled up hand towel. Her movements are just one step below following commands which is the highest step to being out of a coma.
Her eyes have started to respond to light by dilating, first her right this morning and now her left slightly. These are huge steps. She is strong and healthy on her own but with all the prayers and support our faith is strong and hope never ceasing.

We wanted to mention that we are transferring money to the donation account at First National because it is more secure all around but we are so greatful for this program and the blessing that it is and will be to the Mannin family ❤ Thank you so much and God bless all of you!
