On June 17, I'll be running the Sixth Annual New York Cat Hospital SENIOR CAT RESCUE MARATHON! And as sole participant, I may indeed win...again!

ABANDONED or SURRENDERED at area shelters for being OLD, ILL, OR SIMPLY UNWANTED, countless sweet senior and special-needs cats are torn from the only homes they've known and placed in cages to await probable euthanasia.

But with your help many of these cats can have a SECOND CHANCE.  The dedicated rescue advocates below pull these cats from the kill lists, provide vital medical care, and place them in warm and welcoming foster and forever homes. Between them they've saved literally hundreds of loving, wonderful cats from a sad and unnecessary end.

Pictured above is sweet Rizzo, one such rescue who spent his final years happily showered with love and attention by the clients and staff of New York Cat Hospital.

Following previous "Midnight," "Manhattan," and "Tri-State" Marathons, this year's MANHATTAN BRIDGES MARATHON will see me traverse all 17 (yes, seventeen) pedestrian-accessible bridges that enter Manhattan. (So many! Who knew?)  Starting in Fort Lee, NJ, I'll cross the GWB, then work my way around upper Manhattan and down the East River ending with a pass across the Brooklyn Bridge.  As I run, I'll tweet photos of each bridge to document my progress. Total distance should be between 27 and 29 miles.

All funds raised will go to Frankie's Feline Fund ( www.frankiesfelinefund.org), Ready for Rescue ( www.readyforrescue.org), and Paws Crossed Animal Rescue (www.pawscrossedny.org).

Please DIG DEEP to help these special cats, and SHARE SHARE SHARE on social media.  THANK YOU.

Just 4 days until the "race"!

Growing excited as not only do I cross 17 bridges, I land in and pass through more than 34 new neighborhoods. Exploring new places in this way helps the miles fly by.

Some nice press here in the Veterinary Information Network (VIN): https://news.vin.com/VINNews.aspx?articleId=53651&callshare=1

Please keep SHARING, and thanks again
